I don't miss Eovaldi. I understand he has the chance to still become something and that would have been nice here but most of my memories of Eovaldi are of him leaving a turd on the mound so nope, I dont "miss" someone who I have bad memories of. That'd be like saying I miss an ex girlfriend that I had a bad breakup with.

Do you really?  Because I genuinely do too, but most people feel differently.  The guy has a lot of upside.  His fastball is flat and his secondary pitches still need some work, but once he develops, he'll be a solid starter.

 

I do and I agree. Always been a fan. Since leaving the marlins he developed a cutter to complement the fastball and the results have been quite good (check his 2nd half of last year where he started really using that pitch).

I can't see into Jose's real mind and thoughts but everything he's said and shown has been that he isn't actually pissed about it. 

 

They claim it works infinitely better for him to start game 2 instead of game 1 f you look at the schedule and map out the way the off-days fall for their plan for him. We can probably check that if we are interested enough.

I really do believe the organization did it to allow Fernandez a wider span of starts, but I firmly disagree with throwing away a meaningful tradition in one of the most sentimental days in sports worldwide, regardless of reasoning.

Not that I think Hech will hit .300 (probably closer to .270-.280) but because of his lack of power, 8th actually isn't too bad for him. He can smack his singles, get moved up to second by the pitcher, then be in scoring position for the top of our order. Realmuto has a bit more pop so you want him ahead of Hech. Out of curiosity, who would you hit 8th?

Not for nothing but the Marlins gave Hech the oppurtunity to hit 2nd last year and he didn't do too well. But he was thriving pretty good in the 8th spot which is hard to do. I say leave him where he stands if he can continue to do what he did last year we will be in a good position, especially with JT improving.

 

 

Actually, it was the opposite. There were games he was put 2nd that he was hitting well enough but on another occasions he was hitting there because someone else had the day off like Yelich.

 

He just reminds me of Alex Gonzalez minus the power. The Marlins saw Gonzalez s a #2 hitter and did what they could, but in the end he was better suited for the 8th spot.
