I dont really have a problem with Stanton playing if he is healthy.  I dont care about Fernandez if he isnt signing long term.

 

Starting up Chen to start in a big league game after 2 months out and no real rehab is such a Marlins thing to do (sim games arent the same thing and Chen isnt Clayton Kershaw).  Not to mind chen was pitching like trash.  

 

Besides, fans dont really show up anyway so whatever.

you have to balance current performance with future performance sometime.

 

is it worth it to go balls to the wall for a 2% chance and possibly risk long term injury for x player?

 

or do you tell x player to continue to rehab and get fully healthy to be ready for a possible postseason run; or just sit it out until spring training?

As marlins GM, i would have created a major league starting rotation which means I would not have traded away a stud RP for trash.

They give u a better chance in the games they start than Esch Nicolino etc. When your four games out with sixteen games to play you throw your best out there and hope to win every night. I don't get how this is a debate. You play all out until your actually eliminated. Stranger comebacks have happened, you don't play or manage like your out of it until you are actually out of it. What kind of team or manager just gives up before it's over?

I dont get letting Chen pitch when he hasnt pitched in two months is kinda the point.  I wouldnt think I'd have a great chance to win with him out there.

 

The way baseball is ran these days, there is no chance Fernandez is going over 180 or much over it.  he went 64.2 ip int he bigs last year, add in some what?  20 ip in rehab?  

 

Its not wise or smart to have a pitcher go THAT much longer for their long term health when they havent done it in 3 years.  

 

Again you balance going for it with no regard for tomorrow or keep in mind the long term health also.
