On the Rockies website there's an article about the possible options to close for them next season and I found this gem of a gut punch when they were talking about Carlos Estevez's OPS against...

 

Estevez's OPS against dropped to .757 at medium leverage and .552 at low leverage. For comparison, of the 146 players with enough plate appearances to qualify for a league batting title, the lowest OPS belonged to the Marlins' Adeiny Hechavarria at .594.

Dunn has been proven to be durable so he will reach the incentives through the life on the contract, whether he even makes it half way remains to be seen. I stand by the comment of the Boone Logan contract. You would think they would have learned from that. But you can't fault the Rockies, you gotta over pay to pitch there.

 

 

i mean going to coors can potentially ruin your career as a pitcher so it makes sense. Being this will be Dunn's last contract ever pending a miracle also helps i guess. But holy mackeral cant believe he got that. I'd rather give 42 year old Koji 4/19 than dunn

 

The difference is where free agents want to LIVE. Dunn is a hunter and probably loves Colorado. I doubt Uehara would go to a non-contender at this point in his career. People forget that these free agents get to choose where they want to live. Not many pitchers are choosing Colorado.

But it's one thing to overpay for a good pitcher... and then there's overpaying for Mike Dunn. I'm sure he was better than many of us give him credit for but man why would anyone want to overpay for Mike Dunn?

How many free agent pitchers do the Rox land every year? Not many. lol

 

On a side note, I wouldn't mind landing Jorge De La Rosa as a VERY cheap free agent; he was a Marlins killer.

Agreed, its not just Don but that one was specifically 2016 numbers so I immedietaly thought of this wonderful face...
