Admin
The Mets are telling rival clubs they're open to trading starting pitching, a source tells Marc Carig of Newsday. Top-of-the-rotation guys Noah Syndergaard and Jacob deGrom are off limits, but the implication is that starters Matt Harvey, Steven Matz and Zach Wheeler, among others, would be fair game. How much interest those guys might draw is another matter -- all three have had high highs, but more recently have fallen on hard times due to injury and ineffectiveness -- but there would presumably be a few teams willing to take a chance on talent, if the price is right. With the Mets on the prowl for a second baseman, perhaps some of these names start getting tossed around at next week's Winter Meetings. Valid
They might as well hold on to Harvey for now and see if he builds up any value before the trade deadline. It's not like they would get anything of significance for him at this point, anyway.

And the point of adding a pitcher already in arbitration or in regular contract status while rebuilding is?
SilverBullet
And the point of adding a pitcher already in arbitration or in regular contract status while rebuilding is? To waste more money I guess. These people seem to think if we're not wasting money then we're not trying.
