Disney Sells Fox Sports Florida and Sun to Sinclair

Featured Replies

Against my better judgment I’m breathing new life into this thread.  I missed this bit of news but it seems the Rays new TV deal that was reported during 2018 was never finalized.   It was going to be about $86M per year for 15 years, up from $35 M per.   I guess the deal fell apart and the Rays are on a one year deal until the details get worked out.  So for now we can’t say what the future market for baseball on TV in Florida is

According to that article (I couldn't find anything newer either), Sternberg said they'd wind up being around 20th in the league on per year value.  I tried to find info for the teams, but the only thing I could find was from 2016, when 20th would've been roughly $37.5M/season, which sounds like close to what they have now, so it'll have to be higher than that.

Its real tough to find any real numbers on the true figures of these deals.

It was reported the Rays deal would start at like 50 mil per year and increase annually in value, to where hte average was going to be 86 million I believe.  But that wasnt going to be 86 mil in year one of hte deal.

Whats real interesting is how this Sinclair deal works itself out.  Everyone has always assumed the bubble could burst on these deals, and this cheap ass company might be the catalyst for this happening.

Its a real big unknown that we dont have an answer for yet.

But to base this next deal on possible market conditions in 2030 is well, just not happening

Just saw Sinclair wants to develop sports betting and pitch by pitch prop bets.

They might see a future in gambling on specific play outcomes and pay $$$ for the rights to control it.

Sinclair is the devil on many fronts.  This would be an interesting development.  I could only imagine how they would pinch pennies on this endeavor.

Easy, make the time delay 30 seconds and make the offer “will this guy get him out” with a high % money play.

Then show the guy getting the single hahahahahaha
