AJ in 2004

Featured Replies

hes gonna be "ok" at the beg.

and he will return to his normal old self at the end of the year...

we should put him in the bullpen.

Alright I think he starts out of the pen in May...

By June, he is eased into the starting rotation.

Final: 9-6 4.23 ERA

I think we should keep him in the pen a little bit longer...

Because the last thing that we would want to do is hurt his arm again...better be safe than sorry... :)

i keep aj in the pen all year long.

something i have been in favor of since he got hurt.

I'm really fine with either way...

if we keep him in the pen or if we put him in the rotation

pen-keep his arn safe

rotation-help us out more...but pitch more...

I do not advise for AJ in the pen all year long because he might be stuck there after if he does well and you don't waste AJ's abilities in the pen. And also, with the moves the Marlins have made it appears that they have plans for AJ to be in the rotation so we shall see.

that isnt an "AJ type" year

well you have to give him sometime before he returns to the way he usually is.

I'd peg the over/under for AJ's wins at 5.

I also think that when he comes back, he should start in the minors in Jupiter which will probably take him into mid-summer. Then when he's ready to pitch in the majors, he comes out of the bullpen until he's ready to start and go 6 innings. If that's in August, great. If that's in 2005, that's okay too.

I think that counting on AJ to round at the staff as the 5th starter is nuts. By the time AJ comes back, I would bet a whole lot of money that at least one of the other 4 starters is out of the rotation, either through injury or performance.

I think the whole pen/rotation situation will depend on how well the fish are doing.

If the Marlins are struggling, then they would probably try out AJ as a starter around June/July if his arm is good to go. If the Marlins are playing good ball, it might be in their best interest to keep him in the pen a little bit longer and maybe save him for the postseason.

true...true...

In that case I think that hes gonna stay in the pen- :)

excellent thoughts.

assuming AJ is going to be starter 5 is unrealistic if you expect this team to contend next year.

But if I had to predict, I would probably go with Fish4WildCard's numbers.

They're solid and still realistic for a pitcher of AJ's caliber coming off TJ surgery.
