I live in Nashville now, so this is pretty groovy, as long as this prospective team doesn’t end up in the Marlins’ division somehow.

Depending on how they go about realignment, it is very possible. Geographic realignment is going to get a massive boost from this shortened season, I think.

Nashville seems like an AL city to me.  Just about all of the geographically “close” teams are NL.

The only teams not close to anyone, really, are all out west - we'd need to make a division of just western teams. Mentioned that earlier in the thread - the five California teams, Colorado, Seattle, Arizona.

It would be nice to split it into an East and West conference but more than half the teams are on the eastern half of the continent. (Would say country but Toronto ...)

In any sort of expansion, they'd have to add at least two teams to keep the numbers even.  So that'd wind up being 1 in each league.  Putting them in the NL would give Atlanta and Cincy a nearby division rival.

Without altering what existing teams are in what leagues, they could go like this:

NL

Southeast: Marlins, Braves, Nashville, Reds (could swap Reds with Nats)

Northeast: Mets, Phillies, Pirates, Nationals (could swap Nats with Reds)

Centeral: Cubs, Cardinals, Brewers, Rockies

West: D'backs, Dodgers, Giants, Padres

AL

Southeast: Rays, Astros, Rangers, Royals

Northeast: Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Baltimore

Central: Indians Spiders, Twins, White Sox, Tigers

West: Angels, Mariners, A's, Portland/Vegas

Alternate AL (if they go Montreal instead of a Portland/Vegas team

Southeast: Rays, Astros, Rangers, Baltimore

Northeast: Yankees, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Montreal Expos

Central: Indians Spiders, Twins, White Sox, Tigers

West: Angels, Mariners, A's, Royals

I dunno, man.  This is an MLB desert right now.  The closest thing is the Braves, who are four hours away, and more people care about the Nashville Sounds than the Braves around here.

West: Giants, Athletics, Padres, Angels, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, Mariners, and Vancouver or Portland expansion team.

Midwest: Rockies, Tigers, Cubs, White Sox, Cardinals, Royals, Brewers, Twins.

Southeast: Marlins, Rays, Astros, Rangers, Braves, Orioles, Nationals, Nashville expansion team.

Northeast: Reds, "Indians", Pirates, Phillies, Blue Jays, Red Sox, Yankees, Mets.

It could work, geographically cuts down travel a bunch and each division can still be fairly competitive.

Let us compare.

Seems like they have a Sound reasoning to do that.

I forgot that was in this thread lol

Looks pretty close, you just combined the leagues.

I can't edit my post?    I forgot to change the two to "West", but I'm sure y'all figured it out.

Top right corner, the three dots is a drop-down menu.
