Here is a look at how Don's line-ups have fared so far heading into Game #6

3 HITS total - 2 by Aggy, 1 by Alfaro -- ZERO runs scored

LOB: 4

Notes: Dickerson lead-off, Duvall Clean-Up

-----

4/2  SCORE: 6-4 (L)

1) Rojas 2) Marte 3) Aguilar 4) Cooper 5) Anderson 6) Duvall 7) Chisholm 8 ) Alfaro

9 HITS (+ 1 PH from Dickerson) - 6 hits from 1-2-3 hitters, Chisholm with 2 hits

LOB: 8

Notes: Team scored runs, bullpen blew it.  Rojas leading off. Duvall bats lower in the order

-------

1) Rojas 2) Marte 3) Aguilar 4) Cooper 5) Brinson 6) Chisholm 7) Berti 8 ) Wallach

14 HITS - 9 hits & 6 RBIs from 1-2-3-4 hitters, Berti & Wallach combined 4-7, 4 RBIs, Duvall solo PH HR

LOB: 6

Notes: Lot more speed balanced throughout the line-up.  Rojas leading off.

-------

4/5  SCORE: 4-1 (L)

1) Dickerson 2) Marte 3) Aguilar 4) Duvall 5) Anderson 6) Rojas 7) Alfaro 8 ) Berti

4 HITS (+ 1 PH by Sierra) - ONE run scored

LOB: 7

Notes: Dickerson lead-off, Duvall Clean-Up

--------

4/6  SCORE: 4-2 (L)

1) Dickerson 2) Marte 3) Cooper 4) Duvall 5) Anderson 6) Chisholm 7) Alfaro 8 ) Rojas

7 HITS - 2 Runs Scored - only one was earned on Chisholm SAC FLY

LOB: 11

Notes: Dickerson lead-off, Duvall Clean-Up

---------

Analysis when Dickerson leads off and Duvall hits clean-up, the team barely scores runs and has yet to score more than 2 earned runs in a game.  Dickerson is hitting .143 and Duvall is at .111.  When Rojas leads-off, the top of the line-up responds and they put runs on the board.   Let's see if Don's obsession with Dickerson leading off and Duvall at clean-up continues or if he stops tinkering with the line-up all the time and goes with one that works...

And here is Game #6 line-up: 1. LF Corey Dickerson 2. CF Starling Marte 3. 1B Jesús Aguilar 4. RF Garrett Cooper 5. 3B Brian Anderson 6. SS Jazz Chisholm Jr. 7. 2B Jon Berti 8. C Chad Wallach

No Rojas, but Dickerson stays at lead-off

Marte is now the only Marlin to start every game...this is Game 6. Mattingly is clearly overmanaging with trying to get guys at bats. Baseball is a game of routine and repetition, I think his "get everyone at bats so everyone can stay hot" is going to end up being "get everyone at bats so no one has a chance to get on a hot streak but if they seem to be starting a hot streak make sure to bench them the very next day"

And also, that means we can probably expect Marte to not be in the lineup for tomorrow's game.

Which is then followed by a day off in the schedule.

I love it.

Almost as frustrating as this first week are the stupid articles that come up like this one...

https://www.fishstripes.com/2021/4/8/22372964/marlins-left-with-no-margin-for-error-if-theyd-like-to-contend-in-2021

"Marlins left with no margin for error to contend in 2021"

I'm not saying they're gonna contend but that title says to me that this team now has to be essentially perfect the rest of the way to contend... It's April 8th and there's already "no margin for error".

Damn they let anyone write articles these days. It's so stupid.
