The No Fun League strikes again

Featured Replies

man the NFL is gay

A pair of Texans decided to make fun of New Orleans receiver Joe Horn during Sunday's game against the Titans. Apparently the NFL is not amused.

Texans general manager Charley Casserly has been informed by the league that quarterback David Carr and center Steve McKinney will be fined for mocking the routine that cost Horn $30,000, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday. The report did not specify the amount of the fines.

In the third quarter against the Titans, Carr scrambled right and hit Corey Bradford for a 20-yard touchdown strike. Carr and McKinney inspected the padding around the goal post, pretending to look for a cell phone like the one Joe Horn used to make an end zone call on Dec. 14 in a rout of the Giants.

There was no phone, and Carr waved his hand below his chin, as if to tell the crowd the Texans didn't practice such stunts. It appeared to be all in fun -- until the league responded.

"That's the league being the league," McKinney told the Chronicle on Wednesday. "We'll appeal it and probably get our money back. If we do have to pay, I think David should have to pay. I was just an innocent bystander. We were just having fun. I don't really care. It was still fun. You have to spice things up every now and then."

"We were just having some fun," Carr told the newspaper. "We weren't trying to hurt anyone's feelings."

What's up the NFL's a**? geez.

Is it really that serious? I mean this is the league where countless players pile on each other like dogs and you get fined for everything. Go figure.

I'm just waiting for someone to get fined for a high-five

How did I know SOMEBODY was going to mock Horn after that?

They should not be fined, though.

I didn't even think Horn should have been fined, or at least not that much.

some dirty hits if any havent even gotten fined anywhere near half the $30,000 Horn got fined

Yeah, seriously.

Let the own organizations punish their players for general foolishness.

The league itself should take the safety of its player more seriously, and stop worrying about slapping players on their wrists for a little celebration late in the season.

Somebody needs to fine the NFL for being the most conservative fools in America.

of the finings, the only deserved one was Joe Horn, because it was so stupid and planned out

How about when you score a TD you, oh i don't know, hand the ball to the official and head back to the sideline? Why do players feel they have to have a routine now? Its stupid and ridiculous, especially when they KNOW they're going to be fined. The NFL is a professional sports league and are trying to stop the players from cheapening the game by acting like morons.

Bring it

Seriously. You'd think with what these guys get paid to play a game hey could buy some class.

BTW, the league just fined someone 30K for a helmet-first tackle.

The NFL is an entertainment industry.

These players are paid to be entertainers, and that's what they do.

Bottom line.

Hopefully their fines will not stand, because that would be just plain dumb. The league really needs to lighten up. I mean, when one player causes another to have a severe injury, they won't get fined unless it was intentional. Meanwhile, players are getting heavy fines for harmless TD celebrations. Go figure.

Do you people not read the papers?

Kenoy Kennedy of the Broncos was fined $30000 this week for a helmet-first tackle.

Kennedy is always getting fined.

I still remember that s*** he layed on Chris Chambers last year that he was fined for. I believe he was suspended for doing the same thing later in the year.

Outside of Kenoy, you rarely see guys getting fined for hits.
