January 6, 200422 yr ok. so basically the only things to do in miami that you can't do in gainesville are club hoppin' and going to unique cultural restaurents buenas noches - i'm going to sleep!
January 6, 200422 yr again: there is no professional sports market in gainesville or tallahassee... NONE. families don't typically attend two sports games in one weekend, so there's usually a decision to be made in sports-filled south florida. believe it or not, but there are more entertaining sports games to watch in miami than a 70-0 rout of temple. it's a decision in which sports game will be more entertaining, not disinterest in the sports team. think about it for a second.
January 6, 200422 yr Go to the beach Get laid Get paid Volunteer in the community Eat at a Cuban restaurant Eat a chinese restaurant Participate in your football/baseball/any sport league Play video games with friends Go to a play Go to an opera Go to a ballet Go to a basketball game Go to a hockey game Go to a baseball game Spend time with your family (Latin family bonds are a little stronger than most) And this list is way longer than this, I'm just trying to do something at the moment. It's called schoolwork. Some people, watch out now, have to do that on Saturdays!
January 6, 200422 yr ok. so basically the only things to do in miami that you can't do in gainesville are club hoppin' and going to unique cultural restaurents buenas noches - i'm going to sleep! i didn't know you could go to pro football, pro baseball, and pro basketball games in gainesville... damn, you've got a great point. miami, gainesville, and tallahassee are almost exactly the same, and there is equally as much to do in each of those cities. the only difference is that hurricanes fans dont care about their team. great point!
January 6, 200422 yr Author bottom line: miami is not a college town. that is what it all comes down to, not that canes fans dont care this whole debate about more to do is worthless. its not that miami has more to do, its that miami is not a college town and every thing does not revolve around college football (unlike fsu, uf)
January 6, 200422 yr Author UF and FSU sell out their games because they are better than Canes' games ( nicer stadium, fan friendly crowd) and because the team plays on campus and in a bigger university. There is nothing to do except go to games at UF and FSU? What is so much better about Miami? Instead of going to games you can go lay on the beach or go to a nightclub? I don't get it. I mean, Gainesville and Tallahasse are boring compared to Miami, but what is there to do in Miami instead of going to a football game? The most annoying thing is either the canes thing or the chomp. How do you get annoyed by the Gator thing? It isn't noisy, just close your eyes. you idiot since when does fsu have a fan friendly crowd? orange bowl is true home field advantage-if you dont like the canes, then get out! and remember, life in tally and gainseville revolves around college football. the majority of people in miami either dont like college football or dont want to go to um 70, temple 0

Have you ever been to Doak Campbell Stadium ? I have been to Orange Bowl for several game and doesn't compared to the electrifying atmosphere at Campbell stadium.I'm not just saying this because I'm a Noles fan.
January 6, 200422 yr I'm not just saying this because I'm a Noles fan. I didn't even know that Miami one existed, so it can't be that annoying. The Gator Chomp is kinda funny and it's always awesome when other teams do it after big plays against them, so I can't vote for it. I've gotta go the Chop. I personally think Miami's most annoying tradition is all that winning. That annoys the hell outta me.
January 6, 200422 yr Wow. So, Gainesville is hillbilly town, and all they do is watch football and possum hunt. Wow, could you be anymore stereotypical of small towns? So, I guess if your black then you smoke crack and kill people for fun? Douchebag. And, actually, there is a lot to do in Gainesville, but it would be more fun if you were of the college age. Little kids have no business having fun at UF.
January 6, 200422 yr Correct, Gainesville is a hillbilly town. Fishfan33 hit it right on the head. Basically, The gators are a football team with a town called gainesville. The seminoles are a football team with a town called Tallahassee. Miami is a city with a football team called the hurricanes. Excuse me if my life doesn't revolve around football so much that I can't find anything better to do than spend my entire saturday watching the hurricanes stop rutgers 82-9. Why not just watch it on tv and still have your entire saturday ahead of you.

January 6, 200422 yr one of the funniest things i've ever seen was UNC mocking the chop when they were killing FSU- they did it even better than the FSU fans
January 6, 200422 yr I loved those shirts they used to sell at the orange bowl when fsu came to town. It had an arm doing the chop with red and gold war paint on with a big X over it. It said "NO CHOP ZONE."
January 6, 200422 yr Author one of the funniest things i've ever seen was UNC mocking the chop when they were killing FSU- they did it even better than the FSU fans carolina 41, fsu 7 i was pretty happy that day speaking of unc, guess who might coach them in 2005: spurrier

It's one thing to say Gainesville is nothing without UF, it's another to start makin fun of "hillbillies". Let's start a "Make fun of Jews/Blacks/etc." thread then!

January 6, 200422 yr im not intrigued enough to go look who called it a hillbilly town. I dont care if it was called a hillbilly town, it's the stereotypes about hillbillies. I dont like people being made fun of for being black, hispanic, Jewish, hillbilly, or what have you. And no, I am not a hillbilly. I like to hunt. Yes. I'm proud to be Southern. Every proud Southerner who likes to hunt, is a hillbilly apparently. Oh, and excuse me for not wanting to sit in traffic in a big city.
January 6, 200422 yr oh hell, i did take the effort. I apologize FishFan. It was Mark(insert bunch of #s) who said it. I apologize Fishfan.
January 6, 200422 yr Author oh hell, i did take the effort. I apologize FishFan. It was Mark(insert bunch of #s) who said it. I apologize Fishfan. dont worry i agree w/ you. i like goin to the south and im gonna go to college in the south, so u know i dont hate the south
January 6, 200422 yr . I dont like people being made fun of for being black, hispanic, Jewish, hillbilly, or what have you. Since when is "hillbilly" a race? I have never seen on any registration cards "Race: check one... White[] african american[] hispanic[] hillbilly[]. I don't believe I have made fun of hillbillies in anyway. I have used a few stereotypes, but I happen to believe stereotypes are funny as hell. Lighten up a bit, I have nothing against country folk. Hell, I like to fish, go ahead and blast me with fishing stereotypes if you want.

January 6, 200422 yr Somewhere between my comment about possum hunting and him calling me a douchebag.
January 6, 200422 yr Admin- we need you're help! Can you change the name of the topic from:UF, FSU, UM: Which is more annoying? to: Hillbillies, their lifestyles, and Mark 3611's views on them
January 6, 200422 yr if your a jew or a black guy named billy living on a hill, would you be considered a hillbilly? here's another one ive been thinking about after someone was telling me about someone with a fake leg? if you take off your fake leg and hit someone with it would it be considered a kick? i figured since this thread doesnt make sense anymore i would just finish it off
