Has anybody me actually come out and say we are actually tanking the season? I mean with the pitching staff decimated it makes sense.

The draft has a lottery now though so egregiously bad for Ethan (Holliday, projected 2025 #1 pick) isn't a lock.

I mean I would hope this isn't bendix actually trying to win. That would be cause for alarm.

Seems like preparing for the future starting next year is the correct course however horrifically frustrating this season has been

They aren't really trying to win, are they?

Bendix could care less about this year, it's evident he's going to clean house on the coaching staff after the year, so why bother firing him now?

It's been clear since Bendix was hired, that he didn't intend to win.

OK that makes sense I guess.  Agree that the season was lost when Sandy went down, when Eury did as well the season basically ended for all intents and purposes.  Add on the other pitching injuries and it was game, set, match (unless you bet RSW under).

I mean the plan is to win eventually right.  It's obvious the hitting is at rock bottom, and the minors are pretty much rock bottom as well.  So there must be a long-term plan I am assuming to try to win.  I really don't see a lot of the moves made designed to look towards the future though.  Signing journeymen as stopgaps for injuries is one thing but planning the future around them certainly can't be the end game.

The Cubs has 0 walks and 12 strikeouts today.  Their opponents the Angels had 6 walks and 3 strikeouts.  Can you guess who won?

Angels 7, Cubs 0.  I bring this up because like us, their approach at the plate is atrocious and it really is a pretty simple matter.

the idea to sign guys in a lost year to flip them at the deadline is sound.  The problem is he scraped the depths of the barrel deeper than the Mariana trench with how bad the players were that he got for this purpose....and shockingly they've been terrible.  So here we are with basically 1 (Scott), maybe 2 (Jazz) assets to trade going into another full rebuild.

The guy also spent his first offseason in full FO mode, signing more AGMs than most teams have players in their entire organization, so we won't see any sort of rebuild action until year 2 offseason, at which point, he'll only have a year left, and then he'll be on his way, and the next guy comes in with a new vision, we'll be in rinse repeat mode.
