All Marlins Trivia Game 2

You know the rules.

Good luck guys, this one’s a doozy.

1) How many no hitters have been thrown in team history, names included?

2) What Marlin player was allergic to grass?

3) What Marlin coined the phrase “Cowboy Up” sometime in their career?

4)What player collided with Buster Posey resulting in a new rule change?

5) The pitch that broke Stanton’s face, what historical date (debatable) was it and who was the first teammate to rush to his aid?

1 - 6 (Leiter, Brown, Burnett, Anibal, Alvarez, Volquez)

2 - Jazz Chisholm, Jr. (at least it seems like it with how often he was hurt)

3 - Kevin Millar

4 - Scott Cousins

5 - 9/11/14 and either Garrett Jones or Casey McGehee.

5b - Reed Johnson had to pinch-hit for Stanton because the umpire said he swung.

5c - Reed Johnson also took a pitch way up and in off his hands and they said *he* swung too somehow.

5d - good god just thinking about that whole sequenfe with the umpires upsets me even more than Stanton getting plunked, that crew needed to be investigated.

the ump that day was a real POS as Fiers literally almost blasted Reed in the head immediately afterward and if memory serves he actually gave the Marlins a warning because they "dared" to yell something back at Fiers.  It was asinine.

Damn I didn’t know the complete answer to any of them.

I knew about most of the pitchers throwing no hitters but couldn’t have named all of them off the top of my head.

I remembered reading about the Buster Posey incident but couldn’t remember the exact name of Cousins. 

But well as I mentioned previously I seriously didn’t watch baseball or the Marlins for almost 10 years from like around 2011 until 2020. And most of those questions involved things that happened during those years.

When I first joined this forum I used to refer to Stanton as Mike Stanton and @Michael roasted me. But that’s how I remembered him and always referred to him like that. Even though I knew he started going by Giancarlo.. I never got used to calling him that or hearing that name since he changed it during those years I didn’t watch Marlins games.

 

Speaking of joining this forum..

Today is my 4 year anniversary of becoming a member of MarlinsBaseball.com. Time flies.. I remember when joined it was during the Marlins grapefruit series vs the Rays. I remember during the first game thread I participated in, one of my first posts was a joke I made something like “Oh great, Robert Dugger came in and dug a bigger hole for the Marlins.” And @SonofJack responded and said something like “yep you will fit in here” or something like that. 😂

I miss that @sonofjack guy.. I feel like this forum has really gone down hill without his voice of reason around. 😂

SUMMARY:  @Michael went hog wild going 4-5 making a daisy out of a doozy.  Roasting this hog isn’t necessary when you have teammates like Hovertical.  @SirFishFanyou don’t have to worry about zombies, their after brains big guy.  (Long explanation coming).  @hovertical someone found your phone, and this was in your pictures. CRYBABY!!

3. Kevin Millar I believe coined the phrase “Cowboy Up” during his WS run with the REDSOX. 

4. Scott Cousins. A lot was going on here from what I remember.  Posey shattered his knee, a new rule was added, Posey demanded an apology Cousins gave him one, the Fish had a nice record then it all fell apart.  It was the 2011 season.

5. Casey McGee ran to his aid.  I have a lot of feelings about what happened that day. The wink CaseyMcGehee gave to Fiers is one of them.  

I’m a bit busy, but I’ll try & post a new trivia shortly.  If someone wants to post theirs be my guest.
