Just an annoyance when dealing with idiots who claim to be "MEGA FANS" for baseball.

I work on a small team in a gigantic company and one of the ladies I work with randomly professed she's a "massive Tigers fan and her all-time favorite player is Miguel Cabrera".

First off, she informed us "I follow the Tigers, they play in Detroit" (which is weird effing way to say it versus Detroit Tigers or just hey, say you follow the Tigers since we all know where you live anyway and the other baseball fans all know where the Tigers play).

But then.....she tried telling everyone she watched him come up with the Tigers as a rookie and play his entire career there and how she loved him. Then she said they would always have fun promos for him on Puerto Rican heritage nights. I tried correcting her politely on all accounts but she legit refused to believe it and said she knows she's right. Finally, i had to post a friggin' profile link for him to prove he did NOT only play for the Tigers who play in Detroit and nor is he friggin' Puerto Rican. She literally said "Well, Venezuela and Puerto Rico are super close anyway so it's easy to get confused"

Someone's racist.

The only part she got right was that the Tigers play in Detroit, and I think she was trying to remind herself with that one.

I was dealing blackjack in 2001 in Las Vegas. This nice older couple was playing at my table and I asked them where they were from. They said Aurora, Illinois. I said isn't that Kane County? They said you know where that is? I said yes because I'm a baseball and Marlin fans and that is where their single-A team. They said actually we host one of the players, he lives with us, and he's pretty good. I said who is it and they said you wouldn't know him he's a 19 year old shortstop from Venezuela. I rack my brain and blurt out Miguel Cabrera? The lady was flabbergasted, I said I saw him in Cocoa Beach on the backfields during Spring Training I think he's gonna be good. They said he's a nice kid and if he ever made it to the majors he was going to invite them down for a game. I wonder if they got to see him?
