Marino new Dolphins GM

Featured Replies

Manning is the next Favre and the Colts know it.

Manning is a Dan Marino clone, and he's just about as good as Danny was in his prime right now IMO.

ay?????

anyone watch HBO show where our boy danny was on???

i heard he ripped Dave many many many times......

just like Danny Ainge did with A.Walker... and when Ainge became the gm for the celts..... the media knew about his hatred towards A.Walker..... and what happned Walker was delt.....

well i think give it a year and if Dave doesnt meet Danny's standards or projections with the high amount of talent we put on the field i see Dave getting canned.....

you all know contracts dont mean s*** in the NFL only money that is actually legit is the signing bouns......

i hatted when i heard Rick S was promoted to be a GM!!!!! but now that i found out Dave reports to Rick and Rick reports to Dan... and dan makes the desision.....

i like it.. even thou the whole nation is sayin this is a bad move...... they just dont understand as a dolphins fan we dont really have that much to look 4..

and yes Colts know... that Manning is there farve, or dan, or Elway, tehre Aikman , young and bradshaw.......

hey..i think he can handle this job..i mean he did do pretty good at CBS for gettin the most of his picks right in the 2003 NFL season :D ..lol..he obviously knows how to get the ball into the endzone..lets see wut he does

Daniel Marino Jr. is not at all a booksmart man, but he knows football, and he knows it well.

If he does, he is going to revamp that offense with exception of McMichael, Chambers, and Ricky.

True, but hopefully he isn't afraid to clean house on the offensive side of the ball.

Well I think Boomer won that award this year. :p

I wish that we would get manning :D but we are not :banghead

O well any way we gotta get a QB in the first round which should be either rivers who i have known since his sophmore year and that guy from tulane who is pretty good J.P losman or something like that. Sorry for spelling it wrong.

Any way second round must get offensive line man maybe in the third round also.

Who is a FA this season at WR that we can get.

I want a list please.

Also this could be a big season for miami but they have to be smart and use alot of money.

WIN ONE FOR MARINO!!!!!!!!!!

Some good receivers that are free agents that I know off the top of my head are:

Terrell Owens- Unlikely he probably head to Baltimore IMO.

Darrell Jackson- He's probably the most realistic option

Steve Smith- Restricted though.

Keyshawn Johnson- Up for trade or might be cut but I dont like him much.

Alkazoid you couldn't be more wrong on Rivers.

He is in my opinion and that of many others the best QB in the draft.

Rivers would be the best choice for the Fins.

ouch.

who are these "many others"? i challenge you to find me ONE link from a reliable source stating that philip rivers is the best QB in the draft. hell, find one source that says he is the #2 QB in the draft, or even #3 if you can find that.

with his poor mechanics, he simply will not make a good NFL quarterback. there's no way philip rivers will be drafted in the first round.

hell, if he is one of the first 3 QB's drafted, i'll go and buy you a block of cheese and mail it to your house. yum.

excerpt from John Czarnecki of FOX Sports:

Bad news for Wannstedt

Dan Marino's arrival as Wayne Huizenga's main man with the Miami Dolphins isn't good news for head coach Dave Wannstedt. If Marino had a say a month ago, he was leaning toward firing the coach. Now, with Marino forsaking his television career for the nuts-and-bolts of operating a NFL franchise, he most likely will ultimately decide much of the direction of the Dolphins in the future.

Wannstedt signed a two-year extension with an option at the end of the regular season, but those extra years could simply amount to a retirement fund if Miami doesn't make the playoffs next season. Marino also questioned the quarterback selection of both Jay Fiedler and Brian Griese. There will be some sensitive moments because Marino, at the end of his career, wasn't fond of how he was treated.

The hidden news is that this could be the start of Marino putting an ownership group together to buy the Dolphins from Huizenga, who has been trying to sell this franchise for four years.

Marino was the only choice for Huizenga when he was unable to work a deal with ex-Packers GM Ron Wolf. Huizenga wasn't comfortable with any of the six candidates interviewed by team president Eddie Jones.

Honestly, Marino probably will struggle with personnel because outside of quarterbacks, receivers and defensive backs he won't know who is good or not. But those three positions, Marino will be able to spot the talent. This will be a fascinating experiment for Miami and, hopefully, Danny has more luck with it than Matt Millen has had in Detroit.

though the czar's interpretation of marino's hiring is flawed (he doesn't quite understand marino's role), the rumor that marino might be trying to buy the team from huizenga has been all over WQAM since he was hired.

personally, i'd be furious if he bought the dolphins from huizenga. obviously the reason wayne wants to sell the team is so he can maximize his profits from a stadium lease (as he has been doing with the marlins). i really hope this doesn't happen.

wayne had the stadium up for sale too. it was the dolphins, pps, and bobcats in a package. the panthers could be had too.
