Not only will he make about the same money he could have made playing at home in Miami, but he'll playing for the Detriot Tigers, with 100 fans, and 100 losses. What comes around goes around Without looking it up, I would assume the tigers attendance wasn't far off our attendance and maybe even better. And remember They play in the weakest division in baseball the comedy central. Don't forget who runs that club up there....Dombrowski... he knows a little something about putting together a good team. With the players the tigers added this winter *if* pudge signs they could possibly contend for the central.

January 16, 200422 yr Everyone says Pudge is a lock to get in the HOF. It's not that easy or straightforward. 75% of the vote is no cakewalk to get. Just ask Gary Carter. Pudge certainly isn't going to increase his chances by playing for a perennial last place team. Getting his long term deal with the Tigers could blow his HOF chances. IMO

I can understand your point of the farewell tour but that was just an unclassy move on his part, nothing really against the yankees though. It is so hypocritical for yankees fans to cry over one of their players selling them out to sign with another team as the Yankees do that every offseason to the best free agent on the market. Did Giambi sell out the A's, Did Mussina sell out the orioles, Sheffield to the Braves, the list goes on and on The arrogance of Yankee fans never cease to amaze me

January 16, 200422 yr catcher is the toughest position, defensively, in baseball. pudge is the greatest defensive catcher of all time and won 10 straight gold gloves (unheard of for any position). to add to it, he also happened to have an incredible bat, which is rare in catchers. he's a lock. though there were catchers with better bats than him, none of those guys could play the position as well as him.

He accused the team of a firesale. Nothing, I mean NOTHING, could have been worse than that. Well, that's a matter of perspective. I would say after Roger saying all the "i'm going in the hall and reitiring as a yankee" and getting his butt kissed by everyone, to just leave after lying to everyone and not even acknowledge the fans. I fought with these people about how Roger is overpaid, how he is classless, and ect and they would tell me "roger bleeds yankee pinstripes" and "he's full of class" and more nonsense. "i like being a yankee better" or "i miss you guys" or "i'm only pitching for the astros because i love the game and it's right next to my house and andy convinced me" ? as oddly as it might have sounded, do you honestly think he was trying to be a jerk to yankee fans? it is entirely inappropriate for a player to put his fans from a previous team on a pedestal when joining a new team. why should he make the astros fans who support him feel less worthy in any way? it doesn't change the fact that he is a yankee first. he will go into the HOF as a yankee, just as he would like it.

He did win a ring, which was great, and the pitchers loved him, but he wasn't on them for a million years like the rangers. He might think the marlins can't win the world series again and because he has no particular attachment (or wants to get away from his wife, who knows), he'll go wherever pays him best. I have no problem with that. But how about Andy Pettitte for example? He took less to go with another team and he won 4 rings with us and was the original 3 yankees from the dynasty that started in 1995. He had some respect though, he didn't lie about his intentions and I believe he did thank the fans. Now back to what you were saying. About the money comment, I am for a more cost efficient team, it is a matter of honor. I am pro capitalism, but not the inefficient form steinbrenner practices. Pudge didn't exactly screw ownership. He said that they were selling people. You guys got rid of his lover, Urbina (well, they did kiss) and traded a good starter. Furthermore, he didn't get paid the money he thought he deserved (though yes, his price was too high) so he left the team he was only with one year. Pudge signed a one year deal because he was looking for a long term contract. His move didn't surprise me, so I don't see how he is screwing anyone. He told you what his opinion was and didn't lie to you or make an ass out of your team and fanship, so i believe by a wide margin roger screwed the yankees worse.
January 16, 200422 yr explain why you consider roger clemens to be a liar. do you honestly believe he was planning on pitching next year when he told everyone he was retiring? do you honestly believe his only intention was to leave the yankees for another team, so instead of outright admitting it, he pretended to retire? i don't quite follow why you would consider his actions to be dishonest. would you rather he be forced into retirement so he can retire a yankee?
