January 28, 200422 yr I'm against smoking and people suing tobacco companies over their problems. Here's my take on it, please write your opinions. You Smoke? Tough s*** Smoking is possibly the single most supid addiction in existence. Sure it raises your blood pressure and heart rate, but so does table salt and coffee. So why would anyone do a drug that is so damaging when its effect really is not all that special? It makes your house smell like crap, food taste worse, forces you to go outside when you get a "nic fit", and pretty much does nothing positive. Its not the 50s anymore, smoking does not make you look classy. When people see you, they think you are either A) degenerate gambler B) Alcoholic/crack addict C) White trash D) Punk teenager E) Plain stupid and F) All of the above. Smoking doesn't make you look refined or cool enough to drive an old Packard. It just ruins your lungs and makes walking upstairs equivalent to scaling Mount Everest. However, I beleieve it is the right of every human being to smoke. Why? Because if you are dumb enough to smoke, you DESERVE the painful death of lung cancer and the inability to walk to the fridge without sitting down and regaining your ability to stop weezing. I won't name names, but I am going to talk about two stupid smokers, let's just call them Sierra and Oven. Sierra and Oven love to smoke. Why? I think I know why, they are planning their retirement! Sierra: Oven, you need to get your act together and stop buying big HD TVs and sound systems. You need to start saving money! Oven: Hmmm, I would like more money when I get older. Let me stop playing Grand Theft Auto III, and pick up smoking! This way when we get older, we can SUE the tobacco companies, live like kings until we die of lung cancer. Lung cancer is worth 3 billion dollars. Sierra: Sounds like a plan. You have no right to sue the tobacco company for your own idiotic decisions in life anymore than anyone has the right to sue alcohol sellers for giving them liver problems. No one makes your decisions in life but you, and if you make dumb ones, well tough s***. Don't be suing some huge corporation, because it is not your right. You knew very well what you were doing to yourself. Would you take a pistol and hold up the gas station where you buy cigarettes to get "retribution money"? Then why would you do the same thing in court? So let the morons smoke, but don't let them sue. In a perfect world, they would all drop dead before appearing in court.

January 28, 200422 yr I'll agree with SorianoFan, although maybe with less venom in my post. Never tried smoking, never wanted to, never will. It's just not something I'm interested in, or interested in putting my body through. I hate watching TV with smokers, cuz when those anti-smoking campaigns (truth.com, etc.) come on, they always make excuses or find a tiny little flaw in the commercial, trying either a) to convince me that the commercial is wrong or b) to convince themselves to keep smoking.
January 28, 200422 yr I dip sometimes. Definitely not addicted. I dont think I've ever had more than 1 dip in 1 day. Copenhagen long cut is the best....great flavor. I can't stand that wintergreen crap that Skoal, Kodiak, etc. have. I do wanna try Skoal's Vanilla blend. Sounds tasty.

January 28, 200422 yr Author that's cool then. When you buy a twix bar, you want your caramel, you want to get what you pay for. If you get cancer in your mouth somewhere, just know what you are getting what you are paying for. As long as you are aware.

January 28, 200422 yr I agree Sori, smoking is sick and disgusting. I do not smoke. I watched my mom get emphazyma because she smoked for 32 years. Why did she smoke for 32 years? Because she couldn't stop. Have you ever been ADDICTED to anything other than math or the yankees? Its not as easy to quit as it sounds bucko. It is getting easier these days with all the patches and gum I suppose. I do agree though that anyone who starts smoking in this day and age deserves exactly what they get because they are informed now. Back when my mom started, everyone did it with no regard because they didn't know any better (still not a great excuse but cmon).

But that's pretty sad it took one of those commercials to get a teen to realize smoking is bad. But yeah like somebody else said, I wish they wouldn't make them so annoying. Both Alcohol and Tobacco have they're consequences. Both in moderation don't do harm. What makes them dangerous is that you're prone to addiction...
