Fan Fest: 2004 Compared to 2003

Featured Replies

Last year's Fan Fest was a blast. Not only were the new jerseys on display they were for sell. The Club Level card show was a hit. Josh Beckett was in the autograph tent and the lines were 10 minutes. JP, Redman, Encarnacion and others were lonley and not only signed but also had conversations with fans. The VIP meeting in the Dolphins' Locker Room was empty enough that seats were available. Life was good!

Today was different. I was ready to head down to Fan Fest but I was warned to stay home. People waited in line for 90 minutes for Mike Redmond's autograph, and seeing a player walk by was as rare as seeing an alligator in CapeFish's backyard canal (That must be rare, right?). The card show was jam-packed, with the best deal being 10$ pennants.

The place was infested with Bandwagoners.

Sure, it was a successful day for the team, but it is safe to say Fan Fest will never be the same.

Anyone that went to FanFest feel that way, tambien?

I didnt go today because I was sick, but I heard about it and how ridiculous some of the things were.

Last years was great, They had Beckett pitching in the wiffle ball field and he also was walking around the main areas and signing. I remember the only very long autograph line last year was for Pudge and A.J. other than that it was relatively short. I walked away from last years fanfest with a ton of stuff signed and a lot of photo opps. with players. I hear this year some people didnt even get close to them.

Your right, Fanfest will never be what It used to. But I'm happy that the team is thriving. Bandwagoners and all... :)

We saw Mikey and AGon walk by. Bandwagoners don't bother me as much, just as long as they don't act stupid like some moron who actually ASKED where Pudge was. The other person's answer was "I think he's in Detroit."

The autograph was tooo damn long. We didn't even waste time there and we still got to meet players and other important people. I still had fun. It's not only about the autographs, it's just being there that's amazing.

I have 4 gators in the canal back there. You can see them almost everyday.

What are their names?

I hope they're named after Marlins.

Tick Tock is the first one, at my mother's wishes since she was the one to find it.

The next three have no name because my dog Cindy refuse to go outside when they are around and won't let us leave either.

Do they ever come visit you when you're laying by the pool drinking root beer?

Ahhh. . . let's get back to the point.

Awww reference to Peter Pan. That's my favorite storybook tale.

The Bandwagoners are good for nothing, dood. They don't care and make us look bad in front of the whole damn world. They give Miami a bad rap. They don't hop on til October. They take all the good Playoff seats, then they don't buy tickets this year.

goal of the marlins are take bandwagoners and convert them into diehard fans like us.

don't fight it, delight in it. kiss convenience goodbye.

I dont hink it's fair or right for someone to like a team cause they won! If we dont do s*** this year then they will be gone but when we win they are there!

it isn't fair, but what is? we need them for this team to survive. We need them to stay and this team to win.

I guess if you look at it like that cape. But still I hate them , I hate em all! ! :mad :

hate them all you want, but if you want this team to survive...get used to them. :(

At least we won't be the laughing stock of MLB anymore. :)

I hate the Bandwagon because they haven't done anything recently. I know y'all hate Le Batard but he is right. This is unacceptable.

The Bandwagon is a joke.

can you guys whine any more?

we need all the fans we can get..... i dont care, as long as they spend money

exactly. I would be happy to deal with the extra incovenience as long as they aren't violent like Cubs fans or annoying like Braves/Mets/Yankees fans.

One question...

WHY the F*CK would bandwaggoners go to fanfest if the bandwaggoning has ended in october ?

What you saw today were converts. They converted to Marlins fans. They bought tickets, they spent time, they wasted money on the marlins.

A little late? Perhaps. But now every little penny counts towards our future.

So now those people who are Season ticket holders for the first time and have bought tickets shall be referred to as CONVERTS not BANDWAGGONERS

End of story

Thank you! :thumbup

My husband has been a fan of the Marlins from the beginning. I tagged along last year, so that makes me a "bandwagoner" in the eyes of Miami15.

Nevertheless, we bought the 41 weekend game plan. I guess I'm not a "bandwagoner" anymore, but a convert.

To Miami15

Yes, LCyberlina, in my eyes you are a bandwagoner, but there are 2 types of bandwagon fans.

The converts and the punks. The punks are the teal wearing, bandwagoners who think AJ is a rookie coming up from Double A and Pudge is still the best player on the team. The bandwagoners who have stayed fans and bought tickets: You guys are cool.

There is nothing wrong about being a bandwagoner, just don't hop off now.
