February 8, 200422 yr can you guys whine any more? we need all the fans we can get..... i dont care, as long as they spend money exactly. I would be happy to deal with the extra incovenience as long as they aren't violent like Cubs fans or annoying like Braves/Mets/Yankees fans. Exactly. Some people need to learn that having to stand in line and games selling out are good things. Call people bandwagoners all you want, but this is how you have to build a fan base. As far as i'm concerned, the more the merrier.
February 8, 200422 yr Last year was better it was easier to get autographs and there was more players signing outside in the stadium. Also there was more action and games going on.
February 8, 200422 yr One question... WHY the F*CK would bandwaggoners go to fanfest if the bandwaggoning has ended in october ? What you saw today were converts. They converted to Marlins fans. They bought tickets, they spent time, they wasted money on the marlins. A little late? Perhaps. But now every little penny counts towards our future. So now those people who are Season ticket holders for the first time and have bought tickets shall be referred to as CONVERTS not BANDWAGGONERS End of story Thank you! :thumbup My husband has been a fan of the Marlins from the beginning. I tagged along last year, so that makes me a "bandwagoner" in the eyes of Miami15. Nevertheless, we bought the 41 weekend game plan. I guess I'm not a "bandwagoner" anymore, but a convert. To Miami15 You can count me in as part of that group as well. I've been a Marlins fan since the beginning...lived in Melbourne and went to ST games starting in 93. Moved to the Palm Beach area in 97...made it to the WS game 4. Couldn't get into Game 7, but tailgated in the parking lot the entire game. After the dismantling I was sorely disappointed...to the point where in '98 if I saw a Marlins game on TV I would switch the channel. I didn't watch a single game that year. I was very p***d to say the least. Since then I have been slowly coming around. I went to my next game down here in 2000, have been to Spring Training games the past two years, went to 4-5 games in April and May, before McKeon. Yes, I got caught up in the excitement. Seeing the commitment of Loria and the team got me back. I ended up going to at least 25 games, and every single home playoff game this year. Call me a bandwagoner if you like. Or call me a convert (I bought season tickets this year for the first time)......but the bottom line is that seeing the commitment of the management and the team has brought me back. I went to many games in July and August....not because I thought the Marlins would be WS champs, but because it was exciting and fun. I knew the FO was working to field a play-off caliber team, and so my interest grew. And that is happening to many others as well.....a necessary transformation if baseball is going to survive in South Florida. So as others have so eloquently said, be glad that the fan base is growing. In the long run it will be good for you and all of the other life long fans.
February 8, 200422 yr This is my first year with season tickets, am I a bandwagoner? I've never gotten the chance to go regurlarly before. Same with marlinsgirl. Now we can go with each other since no one else wanted to go with us before. We are both fans since the beginning, and probably would be pretty damn high on the list if there was ever a Top 25 for Best Marlins fans. Are we bandwagoners? And who knows how many people are in the same situation. I can name at least 6 people, counting us two. It's not always bandwagoners converting. Life doesn't let you do everything you want sometimes.
February 8, 200422 yr I won't let her hop off. Is there a way to hop off? I can't think of a future without wanting to see the Marlins play.
February 8, 200422 yr Author You can be called a Marlins fan if you didn't go to games before. So it isn't like if you bought tickets you're all of a sudden a bandwagoner. PB Marlin: You're not a bandwagoner. At least you showed up in the summer.

I am in the same exact situation, have been following the Fish forever and going to as many games as I could but just purchased season tickets for the 1st time. I dont think there is any way Marlins management could have expected the turnout they recived today so I'm sure they will work to make it better next year. As for the bandwagoners I was just as pissed as all of you last year when they started showing up, because of the fact that I didnt get to attend any of the World Series games. But if they are going to go and actully purchase tickets this year and it helps keep the Marlins down here then let them do it.
February 8, 200422 yr this team needs a special day for the few, the proud, the season ticket holders guys with season tix deserve a day to meet the players and get some autographs id just love being able to walk around and talk to the players and coaches, like last yr p.s. you know how bad today was? my highlight of the day was shaking lenny harris hand. i left so early
February 8, 200422 yr The punks are the teal wearing, bandwagoners who think AJ is a rookie coming up from Double A and Pudge is still the best player on the team. Pudge is not the best player on this team anymore. It's Derrek Lee. Get it right.
February 8, 200422 yr you dont have to own season tickets to be a good, non bandwagon fan its a long season, and for some people its just better to buy a few games a yr and not commit to any specific plan you want bandwagon? look at 75% of todays crowd
February 8, 200422 yr i had alotta fun. i won tickets to a heat game got thusands of free kewl stuff and i cut in front of everybody in line to get alotta singatures. hell no i wont make that longass line lollolo
February 8, 200422 yr i cut in front of everybody in line to get alotta singatures. hell no i wont make that longass line lollolo Oh that's lovely. I still met players (Penny/Niner) and didn't have to get into any autograph line.
February 8, 200422 yr Well i guess i wasnt the person that thought the FanFest sucked. It was the must boring thing i been to that had to do with the Marlins (Well other then the Cubs vs Marlins game when D-Train got killed and Ramirez hit 2 jacks).
February 8, 200422 yr babies. most of you I would have loved to be there today... I could care less who I saw.... Im stuck here in Indiana doing school work(and watching heartbreak loss after heartbreak loss).... most of you are whining because you didnt get some autographs.... grow up you little f***in babies
February 8, 200422 yr I always attend Fan Fest and couldn't help thinking about the good old days when Fan Fest was held on the field and the players would play catch with the kids. Some of the players would be in the dugout and you could go there and sit and talk to them. The kids could run the bases and it was broadcast on Fox Sports Net. That was awesome. Much better than the last few years. I wish they would go back to having it on the field. Last year they were replacing the sod but when I looked out on the field yesterday nothing had been done to it yet so why not have fan fest out there. I hope management reads this.
February 8, 200422 yr I didn't get autographs at fanfest - so what? It isn't even the best time to get autographs. If you know what your doing you'll know when to go.

The Marlins should take a cue about that because it keeps the season ticket holers happy!
