It is rock bottom for me. Not because Sherman isn't spending, but because the state of the franchise just has not improved. The stadium has done absolutely nothing to fix these horrific attendance numbers. Sherman isn't spending because the franchise isn't making money. At least before idiot Jeter we had Stanton, Yelich, Realmuto, Ozuna. What did the Yankee clown leave us with?

I'd be pretty cheap too if I just spent over a billion dollars on this catastrophe of a franchise with no fans and barren revenue streams. Sherman bought into Jeter's snake oil salesman pitch that he would single-handedly turn the team around. What a joke for us, but a absolute financial nightmare for Sherman. He's not getting that 1.2 billion back if he sold now.

Plus the Braves went on to win the World Series. No reason we don't have Duvall still on the Marlins for 2023.

I'd have fired Jeter just for the Adam Duvall fiasco.

I don't think Jeter ever had a clue what he was getting into. There had been rumblings about how off-putting and ineffective Denbo had been at his job, and he was hand picked from the Yankees to be Jeter's right hand man. The snake oil Jeter sold MLB and Sherman has run out. To have Denbo still with more say on moves than Ng no longer made sense to anyone involved outside of Jeter and his inner circle.

It is important to remember that MLB and Loria forced this Sherman/Jeter ownership group onto the Marlins. Jeter never had any business being the CEO of a MLB team making 5 million annual salary with next to no experience running an entire organization. This was destined to fail from the get go because more serious and local ownership groups were denied the team so MLB could tout Jeter as an owner when in reality, Jeter has nowhere near the net worth needed to buy a team.

Why are the Marlins still rumored to be looking to spend on OF when the closest prospects (Bleday, Burdick) are OF? You have Jesus Sanchez and A. Garcia. If they sign say Conforto or Schwarber, will Bleday and/or Burdick just be blocked from MLB ABs at that point? I understand that the DH is likely, but we already have a potential logjam there with Aguilar, Cooper, L. Diaz, Wendle, etc.
