Realmuto traded to Phillies
I think it would be one of the OF plus one of the SS (Rosario/gimenez). It seems like the Mets would probably do Nimmo/gimenez + other random guys which imo would be a good offer.

Realmuto traded to Phillies
Lol yes. This would be an incredible overpay for JT and would never happen.

Realmuto traded to Phillies
I think they actually match up pretty well because their best 2 remaining prospects are huge needs for us: SS (Gimenez) and 1b (Alonso). Both are generally ranked pretty high (like top 60-70 overall). But the Mets are kind of a wildcard with the new GM, so they might also be willing to include guys from the big league roster (Nimmo, Rosario, Conforto).

Realmuto traded to Phillies
I'm getting a little bit concerned about this. Everything I've seen so far suggests the asking price is crazy high. They don't really have the luxury of holding out for some insane overpay, teams will move on. But I think they eventually "settle" for something similar to the Riley/soroka package they were rumored to have been offered at the deadline.

Nick Anderson acquired, Dietrich DFA'd
Would be funny if the Marlins took Schales in the Rule 5 draft. Anderson is effectively an early Rule 5 pickup (since the twins would've left him unprotected), except getting him now and adding him to the 40 man means he can be optioned right away and not be subject to all the Rule 5 conditions.

He's cron/bour to the marlins though. No room at 2b (Castro/Diaz) or 3b (Prado/Anderson). My point being they have immovable contracts and future guys at the 2 positions where he'd be OK.

Nick Anderson acquired, Dietrich DFA'd
Guys if anyone wanted Dietrich he would've been traded last year. He was a clear non-tender heading into '19 and they probably would've taken anything (like they did with Bour).

According to the Twins press release Schales is being assigned to Triple-A, which is kinda weird because he's still Rule 5 eligible. They must not think anyone will take him.

2018 Rule 5 Draft
So they chose to protect this guy over their other often-injured high-ceiling HS righty from the 2014 draft...Tyler Kolek. Edit: just saw the above posts

2018 Rule 5 Draft
I can't really see Torres or Hernandez getting selected in the draft considering neither has gotten past low a ball. I don't see how either could stick on an mlb roster for a year at this point in their development. They probably don't need protection. Maybe someone could stash Mills in a bullpen role though.

Realmuto traded to Phillies
FWIW I think the chances of the Dodgers including Bellinger in any deal are pretty slim (even though I said that's the kind of centerpiece I'd want for JT). There's not really any precedent that I can think of for a pre-arb player of his caliber being traded. I think any trade involving him and JT would have to be a lot closer to 1 for 1 for the Dodgers to actually consider it. I'd be happy with a 1 for 1 swap because he's already shown elite offensive potential at the MLB level, but I realize many will want more in return.

Realmuto traded to Phillies
IDK, I'd much rather have the centerpiece be an established pre-arb guy. Bellinger for example is already a 4-win player at age 23 w/ 4 years of control left. That's extremely valuable. I'd take that over multiple Top 100 guys every time.

2018 Rule 5 Draft
I'm counting 5 open spots on the 40-man that we could use to protect our guys. Harrison, Diaz, and Yamamato should be locks. I thought Guzman was also eligible but apparently not according to that article. I also think Quijada and Schales would need protection, which are two others to consider. By the time the actual draft gets here I assume we'll have some more spots open up either from trades (JT) or waiving guys (Dietrich) that we could use in the draft.

Realmuto traded to Phillies
Maybe something like Lux + others from LA. I'd also try to get Barnes back in the deal, who could still be a pretty good everyday catcher with a lot of control left. Brendan Rodgers from COL also makes a lot of sense, with their struggles at C and already having Story.

Marlins open 6 40-man spots
There are lots of guys who will be Rule V eligible if not added to the 40-man this offseason: Diaz, Quijada, Schales, Harrison, Yamamoto, Poteet, Mills, S. Garrett, TWINE, Guzman, Kolek I'd assume Diaz, Harrison, Yamamoto are locks. Probably Guzman (some team could stash him in the BP)? I'd consider protecting Schales and Quijada too. I don't think we really have to worry about the others being taken.

Barraclough traded to Nats for international pool money
Yes basically a voucher that gives them permission to spend, which expires at the beginning of the next IFA period.

Barraclough traded to Nats for international pool money
Yeah kinda like last year when we sent IFA $ to the Yankees and Mariners, who were both trying for Ohtani but ultimately missed. I think at this point it's a safe assumption that we at least end up with the brothers OR Gaston (if we can't get all 3). Thinking about the the trade value of $1 mil IFA money that we got for Barraclough in terms of prospects: We sent $1 mil IFA to the Mariners last year in the Gordon deal. From what I remember many thought that Gordon had little if any surplus value bc of his contract. So it's not too crazy to think that a lot of the value we got back was bc of the IFA $. If you assume that the deal was basically Neidert for Gordon (which might be generous), then the $1 mil IFA $ basically got us Dugger and Torres. I think I'd be happy for that kind of return for Barraclough in terms of prospects at this point. Still probably selling low relative to what we could've got maybe a year or two ago, but I don't think there's much of a difference overall.

Victor Victor officially declared free agent
Yeah to me it seems like the main reason VV is this season's top IFA is because it's way easier to project a guy that's already 22. Many see him as at least a good 4th OF, which is more than you can say for all the other 16/17 year old IFAs. That being said obviously I want us to sign him but I'm not convinced he's immediately our best prospect.

Gammons: 2 International Scouting Directors Say BOTH Mesa's Are a Done Deal to Miami
This seems more important from a PR perspective than anything else. It'd be great to see them committing $ internationally. But as far as the player goes, another speed/defense OF with questions about offense. Fangraphs currently has him as 45+ FV with an Albert Almora comp. That's a good player to have, but I think the ceiling with guys like Brinson/Harrison is easily higher.
