Two International Directors think the Mesas are a done deal to Miami

 

Would be huge to say the least.  Younger Mesa is more of a question mark just because of a lack of experience thus far but no question this would be an enormous boost to our system.  Both BA and mlb.com have Victor Victor rated as their highest IFA prospect for this year.

 

 

I'll hold off my excitement until it is official but this would obviously be massive. Even if they don't end up panning out as impact players, just the fact they are signed would be very positive news for the new regime. Again though, I'll be skeptical until it is official.

Yup, thats part of the reason ive been so optimistic about our direction in the last year.  Obviously we want the players we get to pan out, but i think the overall process that they are using in building the team is finally consistent and fits our market.   Finally being an IFA player is huge, and its clear we are trying to greatly expand our presence in that market.

Reading the tweet it sounds like the 2 guys speculating think it could happen but not that it has happened. Big difference. 

 

Also, normally this doesn't mean much but if the Mesas are deciding between us and Baltimore you gotta wonder if the Orioles abnormally shitty season will be a factor. Yes we were bad but we're gonna finish nearly TWENTY games better than Baltimore. It's easier for the front office to say that our rebuild is ahead of whatever the Orioles are going through. It could make a difference. 

 

 

Will fangraphs add this to the elegy for us for 2018 and if so will someone post it again? I can’t find it here anywhere.

I think the fact that Baltimore is even further behind us in terms of a rebuild, isnt in a spanish centric market, and have front office switches coming gives us the upper hand.

But as far as the player goes, another speed/defense OF with questions about offense. Fangraphs currently has him as 45+ FV with an Albert Almora comp. That's a good player to have, but I think the ceiling with guys like Brinson/Harrison is easily higher.

Dont think thats a good comp, but most of Victor's potential is just based on projection.  He did put up unreal numbers in the cuban league and has huge talent, but its hard to project his ceiling yet.  Just based on his talent and scouting reports though id easily put him above Harrison and around where brinson was when we got him last year.

Oh I misunderstood what you said. I thought you meant a player was said to want to come here and never came... but u meant that the team had interest in the player. 

 

 

I sincerely hope they do make some noise and get these guys on board.  I know some of you think I'm on here trolling about the moves they've made and I'm not an actual Marlins fan but I assure you there is no other team I bleed for.  Getting these guys and extending JT in the offseason would be a nice start to next year.

The case of Cespedes was the most "heartbreaking" one,all rumors indicating that we're the front-runner for him and he was also invited to visit our new ballpark,but then the A's was coming from nowhere to rob him.

Kinda like either having Cal Jr. and Billy in your system or having Roberto and Sandy Alomar....

 

 

I mean, maybe I'm wrong, but if these two guys are the top of the IFA class, and the team has money set aside specifically for IFA's, then there's nothing to think about.  Good decision all around regardless of if they pan out or not.
