Sanchez to miss 4 weeks with oblique injury
They are trying to win but without spending any money. 😂

Yeah that’s probably it. I mean of course Derek Jeter has been MLB’s golden boy for the past 25+ years. So I’m sure they liked having him there from like like a marketing standpoint I mean the Marlins sale had to get approval from at least 75% of all other owners. So if the other owners don’t like a new ownership group that can stop a sale from happening. And I’ve read some people online saying that Sherman and Rob Manfred are best buddies. Although I’m not sure if that would have made a difference. But at the end of the day.. Loria was just looking to squeeze every last penny he could on the sale of the Marlins. From what I understand he wanted 1.3 billion and the Sherman/Jeter group offered 1.2 billion. Apparently the Jorge Mas group offered around 1.1 billion. And for Loria he was just going to take the highest offer. Even though it was probably overpriced. But hey he got as much money as he could. I also read that after the sale to Sherman and Jeter, Mas tried to join in as an investor but with the condition of having control of the team and he was rejected because Jeter wanted to have control. 😂 Of course none of this matters. Jeter is gone and Sherman is the owner and I don’t think that is changing anytime soon with MLB record profits and Sherman’s goals of winning while having the lowest payroll in baseball. It’s a great deal for him. Why would he want to sell the team? 😂

Well who knows.. anything is possible. Maybe at some point within the next 5 years or so the current owners might decide they’re over it and put the team for sale. And then it will be the Mas family time to come and shine and turn this whole franchise around in a positive way! After years of showing success of owning an MLS team hopefully will be a no brainer for MLB. I doubt that will happen but you know. Nothing is impossible!

Yeah. I agree. You know to be honest I wasn’t really paying attention at all back in 2017 when the Marlins were for sale. But after just spending a few minutes reading some articles from that time especially at the time when Mas had a 1.1 billion offer on the table and it looked like a done deal.. Dang.. what a shame things didn’t turn out that way. I found this article from after Jeter and Sherman bought the team where Mas said that his intentions as owner were to have a $130 mil payroll, keep Stanton and hire a new GM. 😮 https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/marlins-bidder-jorge-mas-reportedly-planned-to-increase-payroll-if-he-bought-team/ So I think you are correct he definitely would have been the owner that would have made a real difference here. People can talk up all they want but actions speak for themselves.. the fact that Inter Miami has signed players like Messi and Luis Suarez definitely shows the ownership actually wants to win and to put an entertaining product on the field. I have a feeling that had the Mas bros become the Marlins owners and with their stated intention that they wanted the Marlins to be “MLB’s Latin American team” I’m guessing would have most likely signed Correa and eventually Soto or at least seriously made an effort for him and that would be in addition to most likely keeping Stanton around and JT and Yelich for a few more seasons. Imagine what could have been.. Instead we got what we currently have. But but.. Derek Jeter! 😂 Then the guy left and now Marlins stuck with what they have and I don’t see it changing anytime soon maybe another 15 years before a new ownership group. Maybe the Mas family at that time if they’re not too old by then. 😂 Damn.. the more I think about it.. yeah it’s annoying. The Marlins really had a chance to build something special starting back in 2017 with the Mas family as owners. I feel like they could have had a realistic chance to become a top 10 team year after year instead of 28-29 out of 30 team. Oh well. It is what it is. That’s the life of a Marlins fan. 😂

But the 2023 Marlins still had Kim Ng. You know, I’ve noticed a trend here over the years. Whoever is the Marlins GM or whichever ownership group is here gets tons of criticism while they are here. However when someone new comes they seem to be less popular which makes a lot us miss the previous owner and GM and reminisce for the “good ol days” 😂 I can clearly remember how much people couldn’t stand Loria. Seriously I’m sure most of here remember that. However with the new ownership in place some have even gone as as saying they actually miss the Loria and Samson days. Same with Michael Hill.. he was pretty well liked overall I think but did have some people who weren’t crazy about his moves or lack of moves. Then Ng came in and some people started missing Hill. Then Bendix came and some people were happy to have a new GM at first and now Bendix makes some of us miss the Ng days. 😂 The point I’m making is that I wish the Marlins could one day sell the team and get a new ownership group and GM that would make of all us pretty much universally say.. ok yeah these new guys are definitely better than all the past groups of the last 20+ years. It wouldn’t be that hard.. just have to find an owner that really wants to see the team win and have people in the seats every night instead of just viewing the team as another “business venture” in his portfolio. So they can put like a $120+ mil budget and tell their GM. “I wanna get to the playoffs this year. Make it happen!” 😂 Hey I’m allowed a little bit of unrealistic wishful thinking from time to time. I suggest that Admin sell a few of his and Polly’s houses and put in a bid to buy the team one day! Then Admin can be the owner and Polly can be the new GM!

Anyone getting mlb show 2025?
Is that the same thing as playing tea bags? If so, let me remind you that this is a baseball forum and while all points of view are respected perhaps it’s best to keep some facets of your private life such as what you and your husband do on vacation private. However if it’s not the same as tea bags then nevermind!

Spring Training 2025 Game Thread
As I’ve wrote in the past, spring training means very little to nothing to me as far as how I would predict the season to go. Mainly because half the time in spring training you have players playing everyday that will not spend even 1 game on the MLB roster in the regular season. So any results good or bad in spring training can’t really be used to measure how the regular season will go imo. I usually view the first month of the regular season as more of a measuring stick of how I think the rest of the regular season will go in general. Case in point the 2024 Marlins were 7-24 after one month and of course lost over 100 games that year and the 2023 Marlins were 16-13 after one month and ended up with a good year. Of course that is not a hard and fast rule I have just based on W/L record after just one month as sometimes teams can get off to a hot start and fizzle out halfway through the year. The 2022 Marlins were 12-8 after the first month and ended up 69-93 for example. And also there are many other variables that can affect things such as key players and pitchers getting hurt and missing a few weeks/months and good players getting traded which can definitely affect results by itself. But definitely in a more general sense I like to look at the results from the first month of the regular starting lineup and rotation/bullpen playing everyday and after 3-4 weeks then you can kind of get a better feel of how things might go for the entire year. For example in 2023 I think after like a month of seeing them play everyday a lot of us had a feeling that it was going to be a special year because of Arraez and also that Jean Segura was going to be a bust. At least I remember realizing that and being disappointed about Segura and of course he didn’t even end up staying the whole year. Although to be fair.. in some cases you don’t even have to wait to have an idea of how the season will go.. just based on lineups and past results it’s almost a guarantee the Dodgers are making the postseason this year and almost a guarantee that the Marlins are going to have a losing record. That’s not even being negative it’s just based on prior results with similar lineup(2024 season). But I’m still always hoping for a surprise good season!

History of MarlinsBaseball.com
That was hard to try to find so I couldn’t get an accurate answer. I did find one thread from 2/16/24 where he wrote “shut up, Das” 6 times in one day. But at that point it appeared he was just adding it to every single message he wrote much in the same way that some emails have an automatic signature added to every email you send. It was like his signature for every post he made back then regardless of talking to Das or not. 😂

By @Michael specifically telling Das to shut up or to shut the f up. 😂

From what I found it appears that the first time @Michael signature catchphrase was used was on Feb 14, 2024. How fitting for it to have been on Valentine’s Day! Following that first time he has used that catch phrase in over 110 posts since that time up until now.

2024-2025 Offseason Thread
Yeah since June 14 2023 to be precise. Sounds impressive until you realize that the marlins have played 255 games since that date and have a W/L record of 109-146 in that time frame. It’s actually not as bad a record as I would have thought. But that was due to the strong finish and winning season in 2023. Actually it’s crazy to think that it’s only been less than 18 months since the Marlins finished the season with a winning record and made the postseason. Sometimes feels like 3-4 years ago to be honest. 😂

MLB Pressuring Rays Ownership to Sell
The owners of the Marlins and Rays should do a swap and buy each other’s teams. Sherman can go to Tampa and bring Bendix with him. Marlins can get Rays owner and FO staff.

Spring Training 2025 Game Thread
I think it will mainly depend on how “well” the Marlins begin the season. If they (very unlikely) happen to start off the season hovering around a couple of games under .500 they might keep Sandy around up to mid season. If they start the season off with the likely outcome of being 10+ games under .500 after like a month or so then I could see Sandy leaving by mid May. Case in point last season Luis Arraez was traded on May 4th, 2025. Marlins had a 9-25 record on that day. We all knew Arraez was leaving at some point last year just with the terrible losing start to the season it just made it happen faster. I think something similar happens with Sandy this year. Like hypothetically speaking, imagine the Marlins somehow become very competitive and by mid July are hovering around with like a 42-47 record and 5 games back in the wild card. Sandy still gets traded with the rational of “we are thinking about our long term competitiveness” usual speech. 😂

I’m assuming you’re talking about that ceiling fan in the basement. It could get a little humid in the summertime. And since you’ve already bet all your houses in the better climate areas. He’s gonna need a good fan in a few months.

Hey Woo-Suk Go! As I once said in the past, that’s the name of a Marlins pitcher as well as @Rydawg step by step guide to dating.- ESPN and MLB Break Up
- Marlins fire Jessica Blaylock
I do prefer Jessica over Kelly Saco. I know there are a lot of Kelly fans around here. But idk.. every time Kelly says the name Alcantara feigning a “correct pronunciation” accent always makes me cringe. 😂 And yes I agree about Jessica being more personable than Allison. Allison did seem more snooty. It could have just been her natural facial features that gave that appearance but idk I have the feeling that if Allison Williams was interviewing me as just a regular fan in the stadium she would fake smile while on camera and the moment that the camera was off she would roll her eyes and not even say goodbye or make any small talk. Jessica would probably say thanks and enjoy the rest of your game with a friendly and cheerful attitude. 😂 I could be wrong about that idea but that’s just the vibe I got from those two. 😂 - Six reassigned to minor league camp
