  1. I'm impressed you took the hyperbole as silly, which it is. But the realistic card won't work because they didn't even offer Soler the qualifying offer cuz it was too much money for them. The silly is thinking they are trying to improve the team and not being cheap... So what makes you think they will do anything to improve the team if they won't even offer Soler the qualifying offer? Or sign anyone... I can't believe your a Marlins fan and don't recognize this pattern, it's been done about 8 times in the franchise history, even 4 or 5 years or so they start a new one. I know it might be painful to admit cuz we just made the playoffs for the 1st time in a while, but they are rebuilding and don't want to have the payroll they had this past year. They obviously won't trade the few stars this year, but they will be moved within a few years and so will Skip. It's the same pattern. It's a rebuild with Bendix.
  2. At least now Dodgers fans will stop talking about Betts being the MVP
  3. Almost cost as much as the Marlins stadium. If taxpayer money was going to pay for the stadium I would have rather signed Ohtani with the tax money and play in the old stadium tbh.
  4. You say I make assumptions and then make this assumption as if Bendix is the reason the Rays are good. That's like saying Mike Trout and Ohtani are the reasons the Angels are bad.
  5. True but they aren't on the dollar menu.
  6. I heard the Marlins had a recruiting dinner with Ohtani with Bruce and Bendix at McDonald's. They bought 2 items on the dollar menu and a cup of water for him.
  7. im not against bendix i have said that many times. i was upset with the losing of kim but i wasnt upset at bendix hiring. i was suspicious of the motives of it. its clear kim was making moves that were too expensive for bruce. i think bendix is a great hire but lets not act like he was hired to improve the team, hes here to run a cheap team and hope to have a winner. the 'sustainable' bull is the same thing Jeter said when he got here in the press conference, it was the same word. That means being cheap and rebuilding. Time will tell but for now the most move we got is opting in to the Berti year and resigning Smeltzer and some other castaway pitchers and Wendle replacement.
  8. love this post ur one of the few i see that doesnt blindly accept and have faith in this owner and the decisions.
  9. Hey great idea, why not just grab any lefty that ever pitched in the bullpen and make them a starter it worked last year....
  10. This is ridiculous, starting pitching is not a strength anymore if we are going to convert Puk to a starter
  11. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/marlins-listening-on-starters-a-j-puk-to-be-stretched-out-in-spring.html Marlins listening to trade offers for their starting pitchers and going to stretch Puk out to possibly replace that starter in the rotation. It's official I think we are tanking and rebuilding or as the Bruce shills say "retooling".
  12. because you can't blow the game in the 1st inning
  13. He threw a minor leauge no hitter so he earned a minor leauge contract
  14. At this point I would just experiment with Xavier Edwards or Dane Meyers at shortstop. Let them compete for it in spring training. I also wouldn't be opposed to make both of them in the infield somewhere and move players around with Bell as DH and either Arraez or Burger at 1B. Don't know what it is about Skip and not wanting to play Edwards. These new budget infielders they got/looking to get aren't any better than the budget infielders we already have.
  15. Great article on the offseason so far and updates and ideas from Skip and Bendix https://www.mlb.com/news/jazz-chisholm-jr-infield-return-unlikely-for-marlins-2024 Summary 1. Jazz is staying as the CF - Skip is happy with the 2nd half he had 2. They are trying to add shortstops, if no other clear starting SS is added Skip says Berti will get most of the reps. Other options include Brujan, Xavier Edwards, and Jacob Amaya 3. Bendix looking to add a catcher 4. Bendix says "I don't like to consider anybody untouchable" regarding trades. Mentions other teams are looking for pitching and the pitchers they do have are valuable (implying pitchers are probably going to be traded, perhaps for a shortstop, outfielder, or catcher) 5. Bendix mentions nobody has an answer on Sixto 6. Bendix mentions they are hiring in the front office for the departures of director of international ops and director of scouting, mentions they might not even hire a replacement for them tho, implying they will have more room and board to hire assistant GMs instead.
  16. oh i remember him he pitched against trevor rogers a few years ago in the same game and i forgot which one was trevor rogers
  17. he is a free agent now, he last played with the triple A team for the Orioles last year. actually didnt do bad, in 118 games hit .268 with .362 OBP and 17 homers in triple A. not bad at all considering we know he is an elite glove. always liked him, i know he gets a bad rep for his hitting but he always had power. and his glove goes without saying if he played everyday he would be a gold glover in mlb.
  18. There's been lots of trade rumors surrounding Cabrera, Rogers, even Luzardo. As well as Scott and Puk.
  19. i remember him when he was a player he was a pinch hitter and never wore batting gloves, maybe he couldve helped wendel hit better without gloves. i thought they were going to hire him again as senior consultant to assistant gm
  20. the average salary of a GM is $300k, the average assistant GM make about $100k. the mlb league minimum for player is $700k. the whole baseball operations front office makes less than avi. bruce and bendix know they can be more efficient if they have a lot more people calculating wins per dollar spent than spending on players for wins. tbh its not a bad idea to get the best minds in analytics and metrics and scouting since they are still a lot more wins per dollar spent on the table this way. but copying the whole rays is kinda pathetic of bruce. theres always something that hasnt been discovered yet waiting. thats why joe maddon went obsolete, when he had the cutting edge he was a good manager but once everyone copied used his gimmicks, analytics, and sabermetrics he was obsolete. that could happen with bendix as well, all the rays still already have his notes and ideas.
  21. All these new pitchers tells me they will trade pitcher(s) soon and hope one of the new guys turns it around with Mel.
  22. this was one of my favorite ejections in recent years "that is fucking atrocious" to joe west
  23. i love arraez hes my favorite player since juan pierre
  24. yea i enjoy watching teams playing the game using tactics, someone recommended before i watch the npb cuz they have much more tactics/hit n runs/bunting/strategies etc than in mlb. tbh if i just want to see homeruns i would watch the homerun derby only and that is boring to me. i cant stand watching guys overswing in the game trying to mash a ball in the dirt or 'just missing' pitches over the middle cuz they tried to hit a homer instead of aim their bat for solid contact.
