  1. I would love to sign Ohtani if we can, I think a 1 year deal maybe 1 year /$25-$30 million was possible till he heals his arm and gets a more secure long term deal. I know the marlins would never sign him long term and i think unless a team was unconditonally in love with him, he would secure a better deal once his arm is healthy so i thought it was possible to get him for 1 year but it's not necessary. the angels had him for years and years and still sucked.
  2. this is exactly the problem with the team. we didnt need much more, we didnt need this idea of a lineup of more homerun hitters or new hitting coaches or ohtani or bellinger or anything special, we had enough last year. we didnt even need all these double hitters talked about we were 12th in mlb in doubles as well, which isnt bad. if we just did THIS you mention, we would have been much better as a team. one of the better offenses if we just did better baserunning. our hitting was good enough, and was only going to improve. our baserunning, offensive tactics, and fielding was horrible. and those things dont require anything special with superstars/payroll either.
  3. for sure, most of the team did set one of if not their personal bests this year with brant brown which is why even tho we didnt score much, i would have loved to keep him here working with our players. would have liked to keep hampson tho as we often get rid of players trending up but keep the ones trending down. he wasnt anything special but he had some clutch hits and had potential to steal lots of bases with his speed if we were ever going to run. could play anywhere on the infield or outfield as well, did everything asked of him. but yea i guess role players can always be replaced.
  4. might as well try to salvage some fruits of the labor u spent years working on instead of wasting it all once u leave for a new team. he know the rays players best, he spent a lot of time researching and studying their players so he's bringing the ones he feels have value that they can get from a discount because not many people know them as good as he does. its smart to salvage what u can get from the rays still after spending so much time on these prospects.
  5. They weren't that bad. Stallings was a good fielder and called good games for Sandy. Hampson was a good utility guy who always filled in well for injuries. He played all the positions ok, had good speed a lot worse have came thru.
  6. 1 year of Ohtani?
  7. trade puk and robertson for nothing and our relief pitching is elite
  8. would have been better if Bendix waived Arazorena, Parades, and Yandi Diaz before leaving the Rays
  9. Like I said in the post, if u think the reason they didnt score was lack of hitting then u didnt watch the games. they were 4th in MLB in average and 5th least strikeouts in MLB. If it's the hitting coaches fault Arraez didn't hit 400 and Soler didnt hit 70 homers and Jazz got injured then sure, we needed a new hitting coach to score runs.
  10. once we trade sandy, arraez, avi, mel, and skip for the new scouting director then everyone will be happy. so far, kim, soler, brant brown are gone... now we just need to trade arraez and sandy for someone who can score runs because we were last in runs. the scouting director will make that happen we just need to make sure he doesn't scout guys like soler who cost more than $2.99 before taxes to hit homers.
  11. Im surprised our replay team wasn't recruited away, or maybe it has but it's just not talked about. tbh they were worth at least 5 wins this year that skip got the credit for in challenges.
  12. If you think the reason they didn't score much was the hitting coaches fault i can tell u never watched the games becuse the reason they didnt score much had nothing to do with lack of hitting. there was no other team in mlb i ever saw so much needing 4 hits in an inning to score a single run. they would often have 10+ even 12 hits in a game and score like 2 runs. dlc overswinging at every pitch wasnt the hitting coaches fault either. arraez trying to lift the ball more haflway thru the season wasnt the hitting coaches fault either. jazz swinging at shit in the dirt wasnt hitting coach fault either. all in all i think brant brown did the best he could with the players, they all had one of if not their better years hitting. if its the hitting coaches fault we would need 20 hits to score 5 runs a game, then sure we need a new hitting coach for not scoring.
  13. The Bruce shills will say we needed more runs and that was the hitting coaches fault.
  14. skips contract is over after 2024 with team option for 2025 and kevin cash contract is over after next year 2024, so bendix could bring his old friend kevin cash here as well after next year.
  15. I doubt he gets fired, that costs money to pay 2 managers. But I def think he will be gone within a year or 2, I think he goes to the Cards or Yankees eventually.
  16. I would definitely take him over any other mediocre free agent they might have in mind, we need speed and defense and with Brant Brown any hitting will improve. So I wouldn't be against that, I just love Dane Meyers as well, he is a balanced player and I think can contribute in a lot of ways.
  17. I would propose Dane Meyers at shortstop but until Bruce or Bendix thought it was a good idea then everyone will say it's ridiculous idea.
  18. Of course i would like them to do something but they won't so what is the whole 'million things they are doing'? Of course i would like them to sign Ohtani, sign Bellinger, sign Snell, sign as many players from Japanese WBC team that they can, sign Soler, trade Avi for Soto, sign and trade Stallings for Realmuto, trade DLC for Acuna, trade Bell for Matt Olson, but it wont happen. So unless they were talking to Ohtani or Snell, what could possibly be important than signing Arraez? Is Maldonado going to turn the team around. He's worse than Stallings.
  19. Ok Bruce. Or is this Bendix? Or shill paid by Bruce? Finally someone else sees the same thing I do. I swear so many people I thought was paid by Bruce to kiss his ass or something. Catcher - Banfield and Fortes Shortstop - Dane Meyers (an experiment I would love to see) and Berti and Nunez Front and back of rotation - Luzardo, Eury, Garret, Cabrera, Rogers?, Hoeing, Soriano, Weathers? (still experiment), Smeltzer?, fillers Arraez extension - not a priority we need to worry about more important things like signing Maldanado to long term deal (joke) Corner outfield - DLC and Sanchez and maybe sign someone, Jung Hoo Lee? Renfroe isnt much of an upgrade over DLC if at all, another Avi signing waiting to happen. At least DLC and Sanchez are still improving, maybe Dane Meyers as another option and Berti and Davis as reserves. they aren't going to sign Bellinger and everyone else they could possible sign (Renfroe? another Avi?) or bring up won't do much better than DLC and Sanchez. Bullpen fillers - fillers
  20. I disagree, I think keeping your best player on the franchise happy and cared about is more important than anything else. What are these 'million things' more important he could be concerned about now in November? Is he going to sign Blake Snell?? What exactly could he be doing right now that's more important than listening to Arraez? Ok Bruce. Or is this Bendix?
  21. idk i just dont like this feeling of arraez going on twitter or instagram or whatever it was with multiple posts about wanting to talk about an extension and thousands of fans commenting and showing their appreciation and hopes for extension and when bendix was asked about it, he just says 'i was only here a week'... im not saying they need to do a deal within a week, but how much time does it take to talk to him?? not even get a deal done but just so arraez knows its in bendix plans to set up a negotiation sometime. instead bendix says 'he wants to be here which is a good thing'. thats why players start to voice themselves on twitter and instagram now because being public like that creates a paper trail of the players' thoughts and feelings in the public that the team has to respond to.
  22. it was great seeing bendix already fitting in seamlessly to our marlins culture. with bruce sitting right next to him, he only took 2 sips of water during the whole 13 minute press conference. those bottles are expensive and they werent going to sign an extension for them, so drinking water on a budget is good business practice and will go a long way to help him build a winning team on a budget as well.
  23. Marlins owner is jealous of the Rays' cheap winning. Rays owner is jealous of the Marlins' taxpayer funded stadium.
  24. it didnt happen, thats why they said 'should'. the team didnt negotiate (yet), arraez is eager and wants to negotiate, but they havent negotiated. team is too busy focusing on their sustainable success plan to care to talk with our best hitter and team mvp this year.
  25. if they dont extend Arraez, the 'excuse' will be dependent on the 2 scenarios.. If they don't win the world series they will say 'this season didn't meet our expectations and in order to improve our team to reach our goals, we did what we feel is best to ensure sustainable success.' If they win the world series they will say 'this season was a huge step forward for our organization, and we will continue to do our best to ensure sustainable success.' those will be the reasons they dont offer Arraez an extension and/or trade him.
