  1. Not sure if already posted/talked about: Report: Marlins fired broadcaster Tommy Hutton for being 'too negative' That one involved former Marlins catcher John Buck. When Buck flied out to the deepest part of Marlins Park to end a game, Hutton shouted “in any other park!” --- meaning the ball would have been a home run in a stadium with more hitter-friendly dimensions. He said a Marlins vice president called him after the game and said that owner Jeffrey Loria prefer he not mention the ballpark’s dimensions. These guys are ridiculous. Edit: LORIA is ridiculous
  2. Ok so you view it as a best of a bad situation kind of thing. I can agree with that. It just bothers me, as you said, that they don't put the money into the supporting cast since we have a much better core than a lot of perennially winning teams.
  3. I absolutely agree he has the stuff to be great. My issue is that I haven't seen anything from him showing me that ascension will come next year or even the year after for that matter. If he spends 2016 getting a feel and figuring it out, it doesn't do anything for us. If it takes him two years to figure it out it's a lateral move because by then we'll have lost other pieces and will have created other holes that need to be addressed before we can compete. It's the endless cycle of the Marlins. Is there anything that gives you reason to believe we can expect that next level from him next year? I ask cause you're one of a handful of guys on here whose words carry weight.
  4. Yeah but that's the problem, I'm saying right now I value Ozuna over walker.
  5. Again though what have you seen? Like I really wanna know. I want to like him lol. But nothing other than his stuff tells me he's number 2 material. He hasn't DONE anything yet.
  6. Exactly my point. Not hating on walker, but he's a #3/#4 right now and it isn't what we need. How do you feel about him Dr. Lawrence?
  7. Fine but does that outweigh what Ozuna could possibly bring to the team? We have #3/#4 types. We need a guy to put behind Fernandez. Obviously the guy has great stuff, but he's at that point where he hasn't put it all together yet. We need someone with experience and a good track record. His FIP is around 3.8-4 the last couple of years. Not terrible, but he's not a number two at this point (like you said) and it isn't what we need. Ozuna's our best chip right now, why rush it. Wait for the winter meetings. A team might come up later that got wowed in a deal for one of their outfielders and will then have a pressing need need for a replacement. If that happens, you then have more leverage in negotiations.
  8. Definitely no "hate" from me, just not what I'd expect back, you know? He hurt his hip last year, and wasn't he out the year before with a shoulder injury? Idk man, something about him seems wrong. he's only played a season and a half really, due to injury, and hasn't dominated or even pitched to a #2 level. I don't want a high potential guy trying to figure it out. We have those. I want a proven guy to stabilize the rotation. You know, what the Marlins have been saying they were targeting.
  9. Convince me. What makes you say that?
  10. Honestly, watched all his highlights last night and I'm not at all impressed. He throws pretty hard for a starter and his k to walk is alright, but meh. He won't be a savior or anything. I'd prefer one of the Cleveland guys we'd been throwing around.
  11. Yeah Frisaro just wrote that he doesn't see the Marlins trading Ozuna for anything less than walker. I really hope that's true. But he expects it to be more "substantial" than just a straight up trade. What I'm worried about is who else we're including. I wouldn't be surprised to have it be Kolek.
  12. Yo I fucking hope not.
  13. Why, What are you hearing? everything ive seen says the opposite.
  14. Jason Stokes. Dude has been tearing up HAA and Miami Lakes Optimist pitching.
  15. What about hernandez? I say we throw in Marlins man to get them to pay his salary. Come on HILL!!
  16. Damn, that's right, I remember them being on here before. Good job Lawrence! Whatever happened to Timewrecker? I had every one of that dude's wallpapers in high school lol
  17. Anything to help the number one source of arguments between my girlfriend and I at the moment. 8 years, she's only now starting to realize that she's second fiddle during the hot stove.
  18. Just cause you were asking about the quoting system...for some reason the post shows that I quoted your post pre-editing. I quoted you after you added the part about the new direction. Just a heads up lol
  19. Preston-wilson-baseball.com here we come
  20. The thing is trading a potential 20 homer guy in Ozuna for a Potential 10-15 homers from a platoon player and a pitcher that is no better than conley or nicolino could probably be doesn't make sense. If we get walker, then sure. A normal team gets walker and trumbo for Ozuna. The Marlins somehow have to over pay to move a valuable, controllable young outfielder with power. How the hell?
  21. Dude I have always wondered why it isn't like that. Like why there aren't 9 guys that pitch. How many pitchers do we know of that dominate first time around and then get killed the second and third time around (Koehler, Cosart). Bring out nothing but Max effort fireballers. Expand rosters by five or six to allow 18 pitchers that pitch an inning every other day. Fuck the establishment lol
  22. Yeah and Giles will be great when he comes out to preserve a 9-4 deficit. It still doesn't change the fact that we need starting pitching so I would probably have to pass. The Indians have obviously been rumored forever and just recently lost Michael Brantley for at least a third of the season so I think ozuna for Carrasco or Salazar seems more and more possible each day.
  23. Hold the fuck up....maybe I'm misreading...you're telling me they left Wittgren exposed? Or is this list just about who would require protection?
  24. Holy shit, that's great for him!
  25. I've never understood why Cuban players are a mystery, despite having had so many dominant players come from the dominican. While american kids are at school and playing little league on the weekends, these dudes are playing 2 and 3 nine inning games every other day. They've played more baseball by the time they're 12 than some dudes that play through college. If you're hitting .380 with 40 jacks like cespedes had been doing, clearly there will be a significant drop, but the dude obviously knows what he's doing. Obviously we did not know for sure what we would be getting, but a team who's low on money like us can't wait for the guaranteed studs, those cost 20 mill. So when this situation comes up, you take the risk. Everytime. Also, come on man, I would never compare Cespedes to Pujols. He didn't and never will command pujols money. I'm just saying after we didn't get pujols, he should have at least taken the risk, given it was not an exorbitant amount of money, to help solidify a team we all knew was missing pieces. I get that exorbitant is relative given he was a wild card, but come on. But who cares about that, in the end, 2012 had way bigger problems that one bat. But, at the time he did not know that. Lol how did we get so off topic from Ah-Seop son? Who, by the way, was officially posted yesterday. Anyone heard anything?
