Never, I can somewhat see it in the NFL, and NBA, but the MLB Draft is such a crapshoot, draft position is just not that important. If it were important the Devil Rays would've had a winning season by now. Honestly, people keep saying this, but if you go through the past MLB drafts and go with the #1 overall pick, or the consensus best-player that was picked because of signability (like Verlander - Bush), the MLB draft is as reliable as any, and given the high-profile big-man busts in the NBA, it really evens itself out. It's picks 15-30 that are the dice rolls, not the top 3 if the team doesn't allow signing bonuses to scare them off. Someone, I think Nny did a list regarding this, too... While I agree with the fact that the consensus best players coming into recent drafts have worked out pretty well. For the most part though, in the first round of the MLB draft about half of the guys drafted turn out to be decent major league players. While you always see a couple of players who emerge from way late in the draft who turn out to be decent major leaguers. In the NBA and NFL draft you would never see a draft where only one player drafted in the top 10 of a draft is currently in the majors 7 years later, like we now see with the 2000 Draft. With the way scouting is these days, the draft is becoming less of a crapshoot, but it will never be as reliable as the NBA and NFL drafts, just because of the fact that baseball is more of a skill game, where you have to develop that skill for at least a couple years in most cases, before they can even be a factor in the major leagues.

I thought in one of his journal entries he complained about testing, and that he hated how everyone outside the game felt that all of them did it. . . I recall some of that, but can't find it. did anyone else recall that? I didn't see anything like that, but I did fine this which I found pretty interesting. What does he eat for breakfast? hmm...most people would probably say me. i'm usually the one eating the egg whites, oatmeal, banana. every now and then i'll splurge on some eggo waffles or french toast. lately everyone's been eating what i call the cepicky sandwich - basically a homemade egg mcmuffin with ham, like the kind you'd buy from mcdonalds. some people use bagels. they're quite tasty. and then again there's the supplements i've got in my locker. a huge 10 pound bag of whey protein that everyone calls dog food. some dextrose and maltodextrin. some r-ala and taurine pills. don't worry, all legal stuff approved by the FDA and MLB for use. during the off-season i'm big into body-building stuff, or body sculpting workouts as i like to call them.
