  1. i just don't get why u stick with tank for that long and then decide to take him out. at this ponit you were commited to him and btw it's hard to remember but we stranded way too many people.
  2. i'd rather challenge the fact that julio belongs on a roster
  3. julio = nats MVP he's won 20% of their games
  4. as i look outside, i see the smoke from julio's nipples burning all the way down here in florida
  5. Okay, Jeremy is not playing tonight for Jupiter. Anyone have any info? Knee or just a day off? Hermida to Albuquerque: After three games against Class A pitching, Jeremy Hermida was sent to Triple-A Albuquerque on Saturday to resume his rehab schedule against more experienced pitchers. Hermida played right field and went hitless in four at-bats playing for Jupiter on Friday night. "We're getting him in there with more mature pitching," Gonzalez said. Recovering from a bone bruise to his right kneecap, Hermida will continue to work on getting back into playing shape with the Isotopes. There remains no timetable for his return to the Marlins, but it is questionable whether he would be activated while the club is in Pittsburgh from Monday to Thursday. Next Friday, Florida faces the Devil Rays at Tropicana Field. It would be questionable if the Marlins would want to start off testing Hermida's legs on artificial turf. Florida returns home on May 22 against the Phillies. on the turf note, he could always DH
  6. Fish bites: Reliever Carlos Martinez, recovering from Tommy John surgery, is close to seeing action in extended spring games. Martinez is on a faster pace to returning than Josh Johnson and Logan Kensing. Johnson and Kensing are progressing, and throwing bullpen sessions, but they are not yet ready for game action
  7. this team needs to wake up first
  8. Marlins avoid no-hitter but are shut out for first time in '07 By Craig Barnes South Florida Sun-Sentinel WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Marlins are making a habit out of having to break up an opponent's no-hitters. They did it again Friday night as Josh Willingham's bloop single to left off reliever Saul Rivera to open the seventh inning ended Washington's hopes of a no-hitter in a 6-0 loss to the Nationals at RFK Stadium. "The longer that it goes," Willingham said, "the more stress there is to break it up." The Marlins managed only four singles off five Nationals pitchers. It was first time this season that they have been held without a run and gone without an extra-base hit. "It happens sooner or later if you play 162 games," manager Fredi Gonzalez said. "It is just one of those things that you can't control." Starter Shawn Hill (3-3) had a no-hitter when he left the game after five innings with a sore elbow as the Nationals broke an eight-game losing streak, the longest since returning to Washington in 2005. "He spotted his fastball well," second baseman Dan Uggla said. "It had late break on it. He did what he had to do to get us out." It was the sixth time since April 18 that the Marlins have had opposing pitchers hold them without a hit for at least 32/3 innings. The others to do it: John Maine (6), Jamie Moyer (62/3), Jake Peavy (51/3), Brad Penny (32/3) and Brett Tomko (51/3). "It isn't every day that the other team takes a no-hitter into the seventh inning," Uggla said. "We have had some tough pitching draws lately, but there is no explanation for it." Left-hander Scott Olsen (3-3) gave up an unearned run in the first inning when Cristian Guzman, who singled to center, moved to third when Ryan Zimmerman reached on an infield hit and Miguel Cabrera threw wildly to first base. Guzman scored on Ryan Church's infield out. After the first inning, Olsen settled down and kept the Marlins in the game, but there was no offense behind him. "Not getting a hit until the seventh inning doesn't help," Olsen said, "but it is not my concern. My job is to give us a chance. Everything was good until the sixth inning." The Nationals scored three times in the sixth finishing Olsen. Guzman led off with a single to left-center. Church doubled to right scoring Guzman and took third on Aaron Boone's throwing error, the Marlins' third of the game, two by Cabrera. "As long as you have the human element in the game," Gonzalez said, "you are going to have errors." Church scored on Austin Kearns' sacrifice fly. Ronnie Belliard singled to left and scored on Brian Schneider's double to right. "I had two bad pitches and both were to left-handed hitters," Olsen said. It made little difference because the Marlins' offense, second in the National League to the Mets with 176 runs, was a no-show. The Marlins have now struck out a major league-leading 308 times. "I told Hanley [Ramirez] to get a knock leading off the game," Uggla said, "and then we won't have to worry about no-hitters." and this horrendous quote from the Herald: ''It's just one of those things,'' Marlins manager Fredi Gonzalez said. ``It doesn't bother me. It's just something that happens.'' :thumbdown a) omg the complacency is aggravating. Yea, you can control not being shut out by the nationals and not being no hit every night b) it isn't every day? uhh, yea it is. c) fredi, this sloppy play has been going on for a while now.... reading this made me sick. this team is fine with .500 baseball. fredi makes excuses every night and says "it just happens" every night. this team needs to wake up. this play is not fine and not one of those things. :banghead
  9. this is unbelievable
  10. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
  11. let's please take advantage
  12. it's sad when u see children exposed to such hatred
  13. this is disturbing. the team has a problem and are somewhat proud of it.
  14. but fredi doesn?t think that the k's are a big deal....
  15. what a jip of a game. if i were at the game, i'd demand my money back
  16. way to bring it tonight, guys
  17. jobo has struck out his last 7 plate appearances :notworthy way to go jobo
  18. may god help us. this is a sad day.
  19. Jacobs 0.989 Uggla 0.745 Ramirez 0.742 Cabrera 0.705 Willingham 0.797 Amezaga CF 0.921 SS 0.938 Ross CF 0.955 RF 1 Borchard 0.867 now, i'm not so sure what these #'s mean, but i compared them to the braves and there zone ratings were much higher at 2B,SS,3B,LF, and RF. Amezaga and Ross's ratings were higher than A Jones. It seems to me that we are not getting to enough balls. bascially about everyone's ratings were lower than last years too, except for Willy. I know this may not mean much, and that it's only been one month, but I found it interesting the differences between a first place team and a 3rd place teams ratings.
  20. i would really like fredi to show a little more fire. too many bonehead mistakes are being made. i have no problem losing today, if we did not screw ourselves yesterday. i think jack needs to go to the clubhouse and have a little talk with the players and coaches.
  21. this is why reed dosen't belong on the team. our dumbass manager has NO CLUE how to use him. He and Fredi can go f*** off. How do you use him? It's not Fredi's choice that Reed is on the team. He has to work with what he has. u don't use him as a ph in a one run game in the 8th. im sorry, u just don't. The one and ONLY time there was a use for reed was when cabs was hurt and couldn't run the bases, and fredi did not use him. And oh yea, that run would have been nice, we lost by a run.
  22. this is why reed dosen't belong on the team. our dumbass manager has NO CLUE how to use him. He and Fredi can go f*** off.
  23. what's the point he's useless. i'd rather play with 24 guys that way retarded fredi dosen't use reed to ph
  24. this was a team effort. olivo couldn't catch a ball, jacobs, borchard, and amezaga made errors, messenger decided not to hold a runner, fredi decided pinto could not get bard out, and the offense stopped in extra's (as usual). Owens didn't pitch all that bad, he gave up a couple of bloopers. This sh*t always seems to happen when mite starts.
