May 13, 200719 yr The Fish should challenge it on 3 grounds: 1. The field deteriorated greatly between the Top and Bottom of the Ninth Inning. 2. The Nationals had no right to complete the frame since the Marlins did not score in the frame. 3. The field was unsafe for the Marlins to play on in the Bottom of the Ninth. I really hope it is challenged because the umpires screwed us again. The Nationals had no right to continue!
May 13, 200719 yr Marlins need to just forget this one and move on. Challenging it won't do anything. They blew this game in so many ways that it's hard to blame anyone else.

The field did not affect the outcome of the game. The Nationals were playing on the same field 2. Ok? 3. The field did not affect the outcome of the game. The Nations were playing on the same field.
May 13, 200719 yr Author Don't you have to issue the challenge before the game is over? You can protest it in-progress, but a challenge to an umpiring decision can be made with the league afterwards....that is how I have always understood it. *reads Bobby Valentine's "Baseball Whining for Dummies"* The Fish should challenge it on 3 grounds: 1. It rained for over 30 minutes between the top and bottom of the inning, the field was no where near equal for both sides in the ninth inning. 2. The game could have easily been called and the Marlins would have won. 3. It rained for over 30 minutes between the top and bottom of the inning, the field was no where near equal for both sides in the ninth inning.
May 13, 200719 yr Author If we challenged this, I'd laugh at how pathetic we have become. Why? If it is overturned and the umps made to replay the bottom of the ninth again......it likely would end in a Marlins win.

It's not like Hanley fell down going after a grounder or anything. The game could have been called? Sure, but that's not grounds to challenge a game.

I once played on a little league team and the coach protested/challenged every game we lost that season. We were pretty bad, so he had a lot of protests/challenges. None got overturned.......while there might be no moral of the story, the bottom line is the league is not overturning this game.
May 13, 200719 yr Author f*** what "others" "will think" I WANT THIS GAME CHALLENGED! HAD THIS BEEN ANY OTHER f***ING TEAM IN THE LEAGUE, THE GAME WOULD HAVE BEEN CALLED AND EITHER RESUMED BEFORE THE NEXT GAME OR ENDED IN A RAIN SHORTENED GAME! THE UMPIRES CAN GO TO f***ING HELL ALONG WITH THE f***ING WASHINGTON NATIONALS! Happy Mother's Day everyone!

May 13, 200719 yr OMG THEY'RE OUT TO GET US!!!!!!!!1 I feel like the Marlins should use Cape's posts as advertisement, sorta like the Bill Simmons mailbag, but it will be the post and then after "Yup, these are our fans"
