WHO MIGHT BE ABLE TO REPLACE HOLLANDSCRAP?
TH should play against righties with Banks/Williams picking up some AB's against lefty starters. Holly's numbers versus left-handers is atrocious. The reality of the situation is that Holly will be getting the majority of AB's as our LF. Hopefully, some hard work with Bill Robinson will result in a dramatic improvement at the plate.

Hey Edcanes...
Don't look now - but your boy Herges recorded his first save today!

What ever happened to...
Whatever happened to Abe "the Answer" Nunez? Last I remember he strained his hamstring in Spring Training and was listed as day-to-day. Talk about falling off the cliff - he went from being in contention for a spot on the Opening Day roster to being a complete non-factor. As far as I know he isn't even playing in Albuquerque. What a disappointment! :w00t

How tacky!
It's not that big a deal. It's just five girls in shorts and t-shirts. Their outfits are no more revealing than any NBA or NFL cheerleaders. And they're only visible a few times a game. If anyone doesn't go to a game because of the Mermaids they have problems. Kind of like the guy who can't get over the whole Millar thing. Go Fish. :peepwall

Nunez
Watched him last season was pretty good. Has been solid so far this season. Should be our definite setup man and even be given some opps to close the game. what games have you been watching? :w00t I believe he was referring to Spooneybarger.

Speaking of s***ty...how did those Spurs look yesterday??? :dont

Manager suggestion please?
Bobby Valentine - * has first hand-knowledge of the National League (NL East in particular). * has won the NL pennant in the last five years. * knows how other teams view & approach the Marlins. * will add fire & competiveness (ala Admin Bowa). * is a bit of an a**hole (ala Jim Leyland). This team has been coddled for too long (Boles, Perez & Torborg). It's time to shake things up. :mischief2 I hated him as the Mets manager and I'm not too fond of him on baseball tonight...but I think he would make a difference. Can't be worse than Torborg.

Letter to Samson
It's certainly noble for you to express your feelings and frustrations. Just don't be discouraged if you don't receive a reply. Hopefully the frustrations of all Marlin fans will be taken into consideration. If you think we are frustrated can you imagine how Loria & Sampson feel? They're the one's who have invested their $$$ in the Marlins. It's important for the fans to continue to support the team during the next homestand...and to voice their displeasure if and when Nunez and/or Hollandsworth continue their inept performances. Let's hope Loria & Sampson make a move sooner as opposed to later. There is no reason for this team not to contend. If they wait until the Marlins are 8-10 games under .500 - they will be making a big mistake. It just might be too little too late.

Letter to Samson
If an Owner/President/GM needs to take advice from a fan then you know things are pathetic. Sampson knows what needs to be done. Those reports of him wanting to fire Arnsberg during Spring Training and the expectations placed on Torborg to keep his job are a couple of indications. Sampson & Loria knows this team must win now...if things don't turn around quickly I would not be surprised if Torborg is gone soon. I know most Marlin fans are not big fans of Bobby Valentine...but the guy has won and I guarantee you he will have his players fired up and ready to play. I'm not too excited about Davey Johnson...he's been away from the game for a while now...I think his time has past.
-
I said it then and nothing has change
This whole "Nunez thing" is just pathetic. I don't get it - what will it take for Torborg to open his eyes? What is wrong with Spooneybarger??? Why isn't he using him in these situations? What the hell is going on? Torborg is going to lose his job. This team has way too much talent. Loria/Sampson needs to light a fire under them. Can anyone say "Bobby Valentine?" :chair

Frankly speaking, I think they are hot. ...and the majority of them have very large breasts. :w00t

There Goes Gammons Again...
I don't take much of anything these guys say seriously. I'll think what I want to think. They are just people and they just have opinions. :shifty Interesting point...Are the things that Gammons says opinions or a misrepresentation of facts? I believe when he makes a point he is stating what he perceives to be fact. It's a bit different than having an opinion. We all have opinions and enjoy staing them here on this board and some of us (Das) have opinions which are stated as fact ("The Floyd trade is crap, Torborg sucks, etc). It's important to differentiate between fact and opinion - that is where Gammons and other can sometimes cross the line - IMHO.

5) Torborg sucks - leaves Tejera in one batter too many...I did not want him in against Thome and he gives up rbi single Foolish comment - Tejera was brought in because of the lefties - Abreu and Thome - Torborg took him out at exactly the right time. It wasn't Torborg's fault Tejera gave up a hit. You don't bring in a righty to pitch to a lefty. One could argue bringing in Nunez instead of Spooneybarger was a mistake but leaving in Tejera was a sound baseball decision.

4/14---Marlins @ Phillies---7:00 Gametime
Look, we are both Marlin fans who are both frustrated by the loss tonight. My only point is that the Marlins did not lose tonight because of Torborg. Torborg didn't hit into the double play - Pudge did. It's the second week of April, not August - Pudge is not tired, slumping yes, but not physically tired. Of all the players on the roster he is the one you want up in that situation. He is the All-Star. When Torborg screws up, I'll be the first to call him on it - but that wasn't the case tonight. Pudge just didn't deliver tonight - that's all - let's get 'em tomorrow. As for the "all-knowing" Das - I would be surprised if he felt Pudge should be bunting as well. I'm sure he will not "beat around the bush" with his thoughts on the matter - he never does.

4/14---Marlins @ Phillies---7:00 Gametime
If you surveyed any knowledgeable baseball fans - 99/100 would agree there was no way in hell Pudge should have been bunting in that situation. If that were to have occurred Torborg would never have heard the end of it. Also, if Das is where you turn for support you are in big trouble. Sorry about the spelling error - did I spell "overzealous a**hole" correctly?
-
4/14---Marlins @ Phillies---7:00 Gametime
I would have had a Bunt and Run with Pudge up there in a slump.. seriously.. there's a 50-50 chance that the runner would have scored with Pudge.. No matter how you slice it - that is an assinine comment. You don't have your team's #3 hitter who happens to be a perennial all-star and makes $10 million a year bunt. The fact that he is 1-15 over the last week should have no bearing on the decision. If anything Pudge is due to break out of it. Get a clue. Your personal attacks on Torborg and lack of sound reasoning are beginning to erode your credibility.

Pick A Fish - Round Four
17. Go Fish. Admin Bowa sucks.

4/12---Braves vs Marlins---6:05 Gametime
Went to the game tonight, one thing that impressed me was the lack of strikeouts by the Marlin hitters - other than a couple of called third strikes on Lee & Lowell - I can't recall many others. The Marlins always seem to put the ball in play. Many of their outs were "hard" outs as well - line drives to center field and short. Sure is nice not having Preston & CJ striking out and killing those rallies. Gonzalez looks like a new player out there - really hope he keeps it up. Go Fish. Beat Maddux. :hat

Zero. None. Zilch. Nada.

A special guest to throw out the first pitch
Edcanes, I noticed that according to the Marlins website - Adrian Gonzalez is on the Albuquerque roster and is currently on the DL. I look forward to him getting healthy and competing in Triple A.

Nice Outing for DW
Very nice. I hope to get up to Jupiter later in the season to see Big Don pitch.
-
Nice Outing for DW
Nice job Dontrelle "A terrific Double-A debut by Carolina lefty Dontrelle Willis (ND, 6IP, 5H, 1ER, 0W, 3K). Willis cut through the BayBears over six innings on just 61 pitches, 42 for strikes. Willis surrendered only a run-scoring double with two outs in the fourth inning." Also Cabrera was 2-4 with an RBI Double.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Game 7
The next six at home will be key. Redman tommorrow and AJ on Wednesday should give us a strong start. Hopefully we will have some good crowds to help support the team. If you live in South Florida get out to the games and bring along some friends!!! I'll be satisfied with a 4-2 record on the homestand. Go Fish.
