  12. So Karl Rove was on Foxnews earlier and he said that the both Barack and McCain more than likely already know who won based on their own internal numbers. If anyone just saw McCain's final speech to reporters on McCain, he sounded like a man who knew he has lost... This thing is over. agreed

  20. no denying that the Obama camp has been spectacular in their ground game, but I don't think you can say the McCain camp is doing an inadequate job in Florida. what good is to contact the same voter 10 times?
  21. I will make final predictions on Sunday. As of now, I would say this: Obama 370 electoral votes McCain 168 electoral votes Popular vote: Obama 53 McCain 46 This is based on demographic projections in voter turnout in different states which I am making given the early voter turnout thus far. In addition, I think Obama could win GA, SC, and perhaps one or two more southern states, depending on how much the AA turnout increases. For example, traditionally, in GA, AA's make up about 24 percent of all voters in presidential elections, even though they make up 29 percent of all registered voters in the state. White voters in GA (let's just say they're 76 percent, even though you have a lot of Hispanics there, too) usually vote about 30% for Dems in that state. If the AA turnout exceeds 30 percent (let's call it 33 percent), Obama gets 98% of that vote, and Obama gets 25% of the remaining vote, thats: 32.34 +17.00 for a total of about 49.34. Give about 3 percent to Barr and other third party candidates, and your total vote in GA will be Obama 49.34, McCain 47.66. We know AA turnout is up tremendously in GA, we just won't know exactly how much until after the election. At the moment, AA's are accounting for about 38 percent of early voters. Early voters account for 20% of all registered voters through today. They have a few more days to vote. Assuming 75 percent turnout, we've already seen more than 25% of all votes cast in GA. This is all based on this particular turnout model I am using. If Obama gets AA voter turnout to abotu 33 percent and gets his young white supporters to go out and vote for him in GA (thus maintaining at least 25% of the white vote in GA), he's going to win there, too. In sum, all things being equal (no shift in the polls), it's all about turnout, and the bigger the turnout the more lopsided the victory will be. I'll predict on Sunday night. Do you mean the African american turn out or turn out overall? It was always conventional wisdom that the higher the turnout the bigger the victory for the dems. That didn't happen in 2004, and if we are going into unchartered waters in 2008, it's going to make for a very fun night. African Americans, young voters, and well educated voters. You're right about 2004 - except that Bush managed to increase turnout among his base, too (evangelicals). Bush's groundgame in 2004 was legit. In fact, second only perhaps to Obama's this year. There is a large gap in the ground game between the Obama and McCain campaigns. McCain's groundgame is nonexistent in states like Florida and Ohio. We'll see how this turns out, but I think much higher turnout (30% higher) means an Obama landslide, mostly because if the turnout is 30% higher it means you're getting a lot of first time voters and AA voters. not sure about that...I've gotten two calls from the Rep party asking to vote early, and if absentee to get the ballot back early
  22. IMO, today's action should be discounted. A good amount of professional traders probably cashed some of yesterday's profits
  23. I agree. My belief is that the 2nd amendment was created so that we the people may protect ourselves from tyranny. I'm in the minority that says that the 2nd Amendment was only meant for militias, not individuals. there are so many scenarios that can put the general public in harms way.....or do you believe the gov will always be there to defend people?
  24. http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5iem-vu_...ciRm7wD93MJ6N80 Son of Tenn. Democrat indicted in Palin hacking By DUNCAN MANSFIELD ? Oct 8, 2008 KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) ? The son of a Democratic Tennessee state lawmaker pleaded not guilty Wednesday to hacking the e-mail account of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. David Kernell, 20, of Knoxville, Tenn. entered the plea in federal court in Knoxville, the same day prosecutors unsealed an indictment charging him with intentionally accessing Palin's e-mail account without authorization. Kernell, an economics student at the University of Tennessee, was brought into court wearing handcuffs and shackles on his ankles. He was released without posting bond, but the court limited his computer use to checking his own e-mail and doing class work. Kernell's father is longtime state Rep. Mike Kernell of Memphis, chairman of Tennessee's House Government Operations Committee. The lawmaker has said he had nothing to do with the hacking incident. David Kernell was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Knoxville and faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and three years of supervised release. Trial is set for Dec. 16. The investigation is continuing. The indictment said at least one other person successfully reset Palin's e-mail password and accessed her e-mail account after the hacker named "rubico," whom the government contends is Kernell, posted his exploits on the Web. "I wouldn't say specifically whether that other individual may be charged or not," Justice Department spokeswoman Laura Sweeney said from Washington. U.S. Magistrate Judge C. Clifford Shirley restricted Kernell from discussing the case with any potential witnesses, which include his roommates. Kernell was also restricted from having any contact directly or indirectly with the Alaska governor or her family. Shirley warned that if Kernell violated any part of his release conditions, he would be held until the trial. Kernell's attorney, Wade Davies, accompanied his client in court. "As soon as we found out about the charges this morning, David voluntarily turned himself in," said Davies, who refused to answer any other questions. The indictment alleges that on Sept. 16 Kernell reset the password to Palin's personal e-mail account to gain access to it. Authorities say Kernell then read the contents of the account and made screenshots of the e-mail directory, e-mail content and other personal information, later posting some of the information to a public Web site. not very smart to try to hack the account of one of the presidential ticket candidates
