  1. Sentence before said: "This year was the worst though because I looked out and realized that all of the blue collar players I had been rooting for the last couple years were all gone, at least when Stanton was out. " I WIN! :weightlift We're Marlins Fans, we all lose.
  2. Eating free donuts is, and I need to apply.
  3. 100 players out of, what, 750 players on opening day rosters? Maybe double that by seasons end? 100 players that could all just not like him or a majority that don't. That's a small sample size, that is. Get a quote from at least 500. Should give a better idea. lol Do these 100 players even know Ozzie professionally, or only heard about him. There are all kinds of ways to lie with statistics, and interviewing 100 people who don't know who they are talking about is one of them. Interview 100 of Ozzies former players and current players 30plus, then get back to me with your "Perfectly acceptable statistical analysis". As of right now, that survey means nothing. It's like asking 100 citizens of Canada on the US policy of providing food stamps. No, not even close. That is ridiculous to assume it's not even close, when interviewing subjects based on something that has an emotional variable to the question at hand- how can you not find it relevant to interview only those who have had contact with him on a personal level and not a "hearsay" level. To think otherwise is flawed, and shows how little merit your mathematical and critical thinking skills should be given. Surveying 100 people in a mall across America would have provided the same results, and I'm sure Steve Harvey would have been in the poll as well. Once again, the Men's Journal study amounts to a way of "Lying with Statistics". Just because you surveyed 100 people doesn't make them qualified to be surveyed on the subject at hand. My contention is when 100 people who have been in contact with Ozzie are surveyed, the results would be different. When studying the effects of an increased presence of law enforcement in Little Havana, would you interview subject's who live in Florida City about the level of safety they feel due to it? Yes they are all apart of Miami Dade County (MLB), but what makes them qualified to speak about Safety in Little Havana (Ozzie). Once again, lying with statistics.
  4. Statistically speaking, that's really unlikely. It's a random sample. I had to think back to Stat class from two years ago for this, but in a 95% confidence interval, that sample size translates to a MoE of
  5. Sorry Mike, I'm a back runner. When my teams are losing, I'll post a ton. When their winning, I have nothing to bitch about and keep quiet. Anyone else sad to see Chippers Career end in Atlanta with trash on the field and a ridiculously bad call? I've hated the guy for so long but I almost wish he didn't even make the playoffs to prevent him from being involved in that .
  6. Tigers up 2-0 in the series. f***.
  7. Delete, double post
  8. Loria alienated the majority of the fan base by putting the stadium where he did. Explains why we had our third highest attendance numbers in franchise history this season. :| The "fan base" around Sun Life didn't show up, so he moved the ballpark to a place where more people would show up, and they did. The fan base around Sun Life couldn't possibly care less about baseball. Let alone afford to attend a game. Most of them simply worked games because of the location close to home. Where it is now, I actually love it. It's easy to get in and out of, and it's taken me 15-20 minutes from the final pitch to be at my house near Homestead. It's accessible, clean, and made an effort to be a fan friendly ballpark. Some here like to believe the reason they didn't renew their season tickets last year was the team sucks and will continue to suck. The real reason so called "True Fans" refused to renew is they were upset the team moved to Miami and geared their advertising and publicity as such. The ballpark was paid for with taxes from hotels. Unless you stayed at a hotel in Miami Dade in the last four years, you have no right to bitch. And if you did stay at a hotel in the last four years and live in Miami--- stop cheating on your wife. :haha (Reality is, there are too many people who refuse to educate themselves about how sh*t works. Just because your ignorant to the facts doesn't make your position right. It just proves how much your opinion should be worth) Pretty nice rant. Although so full of holes I'm not even going there. But the bolded part is worth mentioning. Why is it that our best attendance records were when we either were playoff bound or the inaugural year and not any other time? Was Joe Robbie suddenly so much closer to "that other" fan base during those years? Got news for ya, that big place isn't on wheels. I'm not going to argue that alot of the fan base isn't renewing because of this year's record, but you are insinuating that particular fan base is all north of the Dade County line. I would definetly bet on that. Civic pride is a good thing. But bending and/or ignoring the facts in an attempt to validate ones reasoning only shows one thing. And, again, I'm not going there. BroncoBob, I will go there- I believe your so full of sh*t you'll make a great piece of a human centipede. I mentioned nothing of this years record, only of last years and the move. Not to mention any place wouldn't have an issue selling out if a playoff team was on the field. What a way to prove your point. I live in homestead,'in 2003 didn't have a car and was 15 and I still found a way to go. I'm sure it was easie for those who wanted to go and could. Where were all you fans in the lean years? That's right, only 1000 or so. The stadium was a dump, the neighborhood was sh*t, and the weather was so much a factor I honestly would drive half way, see its raining, and turn around because I know a rain delay is coming and I don't want to pay $20 to watch the grounds crew. (And I've pulled up On many occasions to the chevron and racetrack as stations and was offered coke or pot right outside, that neighborhood was a crime infested dump.) Now the games guaranteed, the stadiums beautiful and the shity neighborhood isn't much of a factor because they all either want your business or you barely in its streets. You view the Marlins as leaving to Miami, you should view it as them doing what it takes to stay in South Florida. If you can't see it that way, your just a fool.
  9. Any predictions for Reds / Giants? Anyone? Reds in 4 Games, This game, Reds win 5-2. Big Red Machine----ATTTTAAAACCCCKKKKK. Just wish Oakland would have pulled it off. DET has a nasty squad though. Yeah, I'm that good.
  10. Mike, what do those numbers mean. Did Yellch hit 95 Home Runs while Ozuna batted .482?

  13. OK. So, what? The 47% comment was accurate. 47% don't pay any federal income tax. Why are you trying to inject politics, humorously or otherwise, into a discussion of Samson? Romney has nothing to do with Samson. The joke really isn't that hard to see. You're just trying to goad me into a political comment you think you can attack, and I'm not interested in that. Take it for what it was worth, or don't. Your call. You should have told him your not interested in his pissing match.
  14. Why the hell not, I'd rather have Kinsler and Hamilton then Hernandez and Solano.
  15. What makes Loria different is that he got the stadium done, which means they'll be here for the next 40 years. Anyone dreaming of a change of ownership is delusional. Loria has his MLB baseball team, Loria loves baseball and Loria will own it until he dies. Love him or hate him, good, bad or indifferent, he's here for the long-term. DELETED. Loria is up there in age, you can't expect him to want to deal with this for 40 more years, even if he could.
  16. Why can't you be a fan of both teams, and root for the Marlins head to head? Theres no shame in that- they play in 2 different divisions and play in 2 different leagues. I'm a Marlins fan first, but I've long rooted for the Mets and the A's. I follow the Rays, but not enough to say I'm a fan. In head to head, I'm a Marlins fan and I stick to it- even if it means ending the Mets season in 2008. (I'm also a Phins-Jets, Panther- Isles fan)

Romney has nothing to do with Samson. This guy That guy, forgetaboutit. I've seen you's types befores, you thinks you know politics- you don't know nuttin. We run dis town. (Side note, politics don't have a place on a Marlins board. It's best to avoid it, did we learn nothing of earlier this year? Take it to the Outfield Forum or Bullpen)

  19. I was watching the games, but ironically good baseball finally put me to sleep this season. What happened? Did Hamilton pull a Nelson?
  20. Wow, the Braves are getting f***ed over by this call. The Met fan in me is happy their getting f***ed, but Admin shouldn't be subjected to this in his last game. He deserves better. I hope they over come it. Those braves fans, I'm proud of them. Derail the game! I hope the game gets restarted and it happens again if they don't come back this inning. Anyone else surprised about how much emotion Freddy showed? I've never seen that. He might still be employed here if he did that once or twice. All we need is him throwing the rosin bag like a grenade.
  21. this is a top notch thread Does it qualify to be nominated for a Admin as the best derailment of the year? I've never won one. It would be fitting for me to get my first win sharing it with Mike. Get it. Mike- Piazza31 FTW!
  22. I'm sorry, sir. I didn't realize I ranted. That was very correct of you to apologize bitch Stewie.
  23. Wishing something happened doesn't make it so. It was a valid point. Your homophobia has gotten old. I know of others who feel the same. Although I am sure they are tired of me derailing sh*t too.
  24. I ain't yammering. I'm just being an asshole. About? I don't get it. Could you point out what prompted your YOU'RE rant?
  25. YOU'RE! YOU'RE AN ASSHOLE! Did I use that right? What are you yammering about anyway?
