Kenny Powers a Florida Marlin?
I was just wondering if anybody out there wishes that Kenny Powers was actually a REAL baseball player and played for the Marlins. It would nice to have a guy with "personality" on the team, although I think Cody Ross has some spunk in him. Go Marlins!

MLB 2K9 Maybin
I bought MLB 2K9 and started playing it then I noticed a few problems that the developers made with the game. Cameron Maybin is WHITE in the game!!! Of course this does not really affect the actually ratings of the player, but how can they not get that right? Are you sure your TV isn't too bright? He's black on mine. I have the ps2 version, maybe that is the difference.

I am happy the game is postponed. I have tickets to a show tonight so I would have missed the game anyways. We better sweep the Kansas sh*tty Royals

A-Rod / Marlins Rumor Talk
I heard it and was , what, the Marlins? This would be amazing, the stadium would sell out a lot more often. Imagine in a few years, going to the ballpark to catch his 763rd HR! See Alex Fernandez circa 1997. Cuban, hometown hero, UM, etc.... Absolutely no attendence bump at all resulted. None. Next - HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!! Alex Ferdandez 1. SUCKS and is an a**hole 2. did not play everyday 3. he was only healthy one season (the fat ass threw out his shoulder having to always pick his pants up past his big belly) so it was hard to see and attendance bump based soley on him because in 1997 we signed a few more names then Alex "Turd"andez. When the D-Train is on the tracks more people show up rather then when Van-denhurk, or even a good pitcher like Mitre. people would come see A-Rod

A-Rod / Marlins Rumor Talk
Problem is that if you go out and spend the money for ARod, now you are sending the message out that you have enough money to spend on your team but not a new stadium to save your franchise. Some how I have a feeling that could end up ticking off some of the wrong people. The ownership always claims that the money for players and the money for the stadium is "different". Plus by signing A-Rod they woudl generate huge amounts of income. Tickets, sponsors, merchandise. It would be the HUGE. also one way they can make sure they get there moneis worth is to pay him $20M for the season, $5M for making the playoffs and $5M if we win the world series "if you build it, they will come"

A-Rod / Marlins Rumor Talk
I have been saying that we "should" have a chance at getting him for a few reasons. What the marlins should do to make this happen is not give hime a huge salary, but instead give him partial ownership of the stadium. I am sure there is a way that can be worked out. South Florida is all about what is "in" and if we signed A-Rod they the Marlins would become the hottest ticket in town, just like the heat became once we signed Shaq. Signing A-Rod could be what keeps the Marlins in South Florida. :hat

My weekend at Tropicana
Just got back from St. Pete, i went to the Yankees vs. Rays series and came away very impressed with the city and the fans.. The town had a real baseball feel, for those of you who have been to Dolphin stadium and then gone to see a MLB game somewhere else you know exactly what i mean. I love the way they had the stadium set-up, they even had a section in the stadium were u can play all the old school baseball games leading up to the 07 games,i kicked a couple of people's butt in Rbi baseball for the NES Nintendo, and the free parking was pretty cool. And on the final game on sunday i go to meet and talk to for about 2-3 min. to Hall Of Famer Bob Feller who also signed a baseball and a picture of himself @ Yankee Stadium in 1937... Real Treat couldn't beleive it was him.... Sounds like you had a great time. I've been to the Trop and I had a good time, but I definitely disagree with you about the stadium experience being better than down here. I saw the Marlins up there and there were more Fish fans than Rays fans, which was cool for me, especially since the Fish won. Actually, now that I think about it, it was Scott Olsen's MLB debut and he won the game. Back to my point though, being in that arena did not feel like I was at a baseball game at all (and I've been to other parks besides DS: Yankee Stadium, Coors Field, US Cellular Field). I know DS is not the best stadium around, but going to the Trop made me feel thankful we don't have to play there. I have been to Tropicana Field once, a few years ago, and I had a great experience. I staff was much friendlier there then the A$$clowns that work at DS. The place is air conditioned, dont really need to say much more then that...but i will. The seats we also angled much better for viewing a baseball game then they are at DS. If the Marlins had a new ballpark, I would go to much more games then I do now. It is not even a question. GO FISH!!

Bunting
Well......I was in the middle of making a post about how great Vanden Hurk was pitching and in the middle of my thoughts he gave 6 runs. I have many nice things to say, but the Marlins have not been doing much worthy of praise these last few days. FYI, now he just gave up a shot to Beltran! 8-2 Muts. you don't think Fredi had him bunt? Hell no. If Fredi ever has Miguel bunt Beinfest would fire him on the spot. But he could have just stood there and taken the BB. No outs and first open you know they were going to walk him. who ever made the choice to bunt shoudl get a bitch slap, Miguel or Fredi!

Heckling the visiting team
Over the last 14 seasons I have been an avid heckler. I have been fliped off, cursed at and even theaten to fights by visiting player. I think that we as fans sitting in our fishtank seats need to make it as unpleasent for opposing players as possible. With the stadium being as empty as it is these players can hear nearly everyword. I am in no way suggesting that any fans throw things at players or on to the field, or even use cures words. there are many creative things that can be said to visiting team. Make it your buisness to be out there next week against the stinking MUTS. GO FISH!!!!
