October 17, 200718 yr I walked a lot today and I'm a little tired and groggy, but did Buster Olney just mention the Marlins as a team that could pick up ARod? Or did I hallucinate that? P.S. How awesome would that be? :thumbup
October 17, 200718 yr Yea he did say that... and YES that would be awesome! Arod 3rd Cabs at 1st :drool
October 17, 200718 yr That would be a sick line-up.. But, we'd only have him for 1 year and then get rid of him probably.
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod, there's no way Cabrera will be here. That said, there's no way A-Rod will be here.
October 17, 200718 yr I have been saying that we "should" have a chance at getting him for a few reasons. What the marlins should do to make this happen is not give hime a huge salary, but instead give him partial ownership of the stadium. I am sure there is a way that can be worked out. South Florida is all about what is "in" and if we signed A-Rod they the Marlins would become the hottest ticket in town, just like the heat became once we signed Shaq. Signing A-Rod could be what keeps the Marlins in South Florida. :hat

We can't afford to pay him $30 million a year, but if he had a 10% ownership of the franchise...That could be attractive to him. But I can't see it happening. It would be really cool though.
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs.
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs. Yeah, that's sound logic.
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs. Yeah, that's sound logic. Don't you think they'd go after him when he becomes a free agent? I doubt they'd give him a 200 million dollar contract if they still have A-Rod.
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs. You'd rather have Cabrera than A Rod? Thats....interesting
October 17, 200718 yr It's just not happening. People just like to throw it out there because he's from down here. What a team were gonna have next year. Bonds, A-Rod, Cabrera, Ramirez......
October 17, 200718 yr It was discussed before when A-Rod left from Texas. I wouldn't get too excited, but I would love to see him in teal.
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs. You'd rather have Cabrera than A Rod? Thats....interesting lol maybe he means playoffs wise

How about one has absolutely nothing to do with the other? Or, here's a novel one: If the Marlins get ARod, it means they're spending money. If they're spending money, it means they're likely to keep spending money. If they're likely to keep spending money, it means they're likely to spend some on Miguel Cabrera. If they're likely to spend some money on Miguel Cabrera, it means they're likely to keep him. If they're likely to keep him, it means we could end up with both. See what I did there?
October 17, 200718 yr If we get A-Rod then the Yankees would most likely go hard after Cabrera. I'd rather have Cabs. You'd rather have Cabrera than A Rod? Thats....interesting Cabrera is much younger than A-Rod and he doesn't become a little girl when he's in the playoffs.

You can't seriously think they'll keep both of them. If the Marlins spend money on A-Rod it would be because he has potential to bring in some good gate and not to make the team better as a whole.
October 17, 200718 yr Cabrera is much younger than A-Rod and he doesn't become a little girl when he's in the playoffs. EXACTLY. Scott Posedink and David Eckstein = World Champions Alex Rodriguez - little girl
