What about his lack of effort on some plays, what about his refusal over the last 3 years to try a different glove, what about his lack of concentration over 9 iniings, what about his lack of leadership. None of these thing show up in stats. A few things: 1) He's had atleast 2 gloves this year. 2) I don't see any lack of effort on plays anymore, even though I saw it a bit last year lollipoping throws to first. 3) Yeah, he does need to work on his concentration. He seems to lose that a bit. 4) I'm not sure the youngest position player on the team is supposed to be the leader. 5) None of this makes him the worst SS in baseball. 1. Same glove, different color 2. lack of effort especially on plays up the middle, of course this is my opinion 3. agreed 4. The posistion requires a certain amount of leadership by default. Second he has said he want to lead. Leadership at shortstop is important part of the game, even if others don't think it applies. 5.All of this factors into the equation. None of it alone means anything, just as no one stat tells the story. Every player in the league is compared to someone when the come up that all have heard of, doesn't mean a thing other than here for point of dicussion. Comparing A-Rod to Hanley is just plain silly.

No need to quote stats, I have watched every game this year, either in person or on TV. He is lazy, not committed to anything but hitting, and has a terrible attitude and ihis ego is bigger than he is. Besides, individually stats can be made to support any arguement. Collectively they tell the story. To many people get easy sold on the Marlins propaganda. Ok, show me the collective stats. No need to quote the stats to someone that post more than eleven times per day. You know what they are. I don't even think you know what a stat is, judging from your statement. STATS prove that Hanley Ramirez is NOT the worst defensive SS in baseball this year. I guess that means, since you are such a believer in stats, that you are a supporter of moneyball. And of course we all know how many championships that philosophy has won.....oh yeah none.

I know that 15th in OOZ/Inn. I know, that while not great numbers, that puts him right in the middle. That shows him to be average, not the worst in the game. But I wanted you to post them to see what you felt proved him to be the worst SS in baseball. See this is the very reason I don't get in a arguement about stats. What about the other stats, leads the league in errors 3 years in a row, terrible range. What about intangables such as effort, lack of leadership? And please don't tell me they don't count. I am an old school guy, I know what my eyes and ears tell me.

Hanley is the worst definsive shortstop in the league 3 years running. Compare him to anyone you like, talk about he is improving (which I do not believe), quote me stats. It does not change the facts, he is the worst in the league. Gotta love it when someone straight up says "I don't care what facts you show me, it won't change my mind". You missed the point, facts are he is the worst shortstop in the league. You can twist all the other stats any way you want, but in their entirety it says he is the worst. Typically statements like this are supposed to come backed up with said stats as proof. Yeah, that was similar to the point I was trying to make. He was taken off the 40 man roster Wonder if that means someone is coming up today This move was done in May. Pay attention

Hanley will be fine at ss eventually Arod sucked at short his first few years then he became a gold glover. I dont give a dman if hanley answers some stupid reporters qustion. He knows he screwed up and so does everyone else. Whats he supposed to tell the guy ill try harder next time he f'ed up and everyone knows it. For the most part i like the guys who dont talk to the media and let their game do the talkin. He has had 3 years to show some kind of improvement, if anything there is evidence he is getting worse. How much longer do you give him. The Marlins can not win with Hanley at short.

Hanley is the worst shortstop in MLB. He needs to be moved to Center Field.

LOL. No...I don't miss Miller. A couple nights ago Miller was getting bashed b/c he couldn't inherit runners. What makes you think today would've been so different? The fact that you can't be proven right or wrong? Miller was one of the best on the team when brought in with runners on, 28 times he came in with runners on, 23 times they did not score.
-
I'd also like to add how amazing Justin Miller pitched today going 2.1 innings giving up only 1 hit with 3 k's. I'd definitely like to see more of that from him. One interesting stat about J Miller is that he has now come into 25 games with runners on and 22 of those times no one has scored. Today the bases were loaded and he got out of it without allowing a run.

Last night's game was loss because we are not a good defensive team. In the 8th inning if Jacobs get an out at 2nd on the ground ball to him we get out of the inning with no runs scored. In the 9th if Willingham catches the fly ball tha ended up going for a double we once again get out of the inning without being scored on. The bullpen had to pitch to a lot more guys because of poor defense. We had to have a lot more things happen in order to get out of those inning unscathed... yes jacobs getting that out would have helped and yes hammer making that catch would have helped but the bottom line is that the BP needs to throw strikes and make better pitches. Overall the D played as well as you could have hoped for... the bullpen let us down again and our bats went cold with RISP You point the finger at the bullpen yet you agree that those plays should have been made. Had those plays been made, we win and we would have been praising the bullpen.

The defense was to blame for last night's loss. If Jacobs gets an out on the ground ball to him in the 8th, no runs score. If Willingham catches the fly ball that goes for a double in the ninth, again no runs score The defense makes our pitchers look a lot worse than they are.
