August 18, 200817 yr Ok, I know this is going to be a controversial thread, but I've had some time to cool off after that dreadful loss after another solid effort from one of our starters. This is the type of game I believe Justin Miller would have fit in nicely. First off, after Volstad finished his 6th inning without allowing a run, that should have been a huge moral boost for this team. The Cubs should have scored 3 or 4 runs in those innings. Now, after Volstad's pitch count had reached just about 100 after that effort, why the hell was he out there to pitch again? Oh yeah, there weren't any good rested arms left in the bullpen. Why? Because they DFA's Justin Miller! I was reading Cub forums and they don't understand why we did that either. The guy hasn't been perfect, but certainally not worth getting rid of. He would have been the 7th inning guy followed by maybe Hendrikson or Rhodes. Instead out strolls Pinto bean to ruin the game. I liked Miller and think he could have been a lot more effective than Pinto in that situation. JMO...
August 18, 200817 yr evrytime pinto and miller pitch in the same inning or the same game they both suck balls until he can be what he was like last year he dosent belong in the Major Leagues
August 18, 200817 yr i miss doug waechter more than i miss justin miller, although his absence from the team is outwith our control when is waechter due back anyway? ok so i know justin miller's latest appearance wasnt great, but i tend to agree with you in that we shouldnt have been so quick to send him down, especially considering it was lo duca we replaced him with i still do not see the benefit of having lo duca

August 18, 200817 yr Miller would have been good for the situation...but it was just another move that made no sense.
August 18, 200817 yr LOL. No...I don't miss Miller. A couple nights ago Miller was getting bashed b/c he couldn't inherit runners. What makes you think today would've been so different? The fact that you can't be proven right or wrong?
August 18, 200817 yr Miss Miller? You guys make it sound like he was actually good or something... he was. well at least he was last season

The fact that you can't be proven right or wrong? Miller was one of the best on the team when brought in with runners on, 28 times he came in with runners on, 23 times they did not score.
August 18, 200817 yr Miss Miller? You guys make it sound like he was actually good or something... He was pretty good since the break. Which made his DFA even more ridiculous.
August 18, 200817 yr Miss Miller? You guys make it sound like he was actually good or something... He was sound with inherited runners and solid since the break and it appears that our pen has turned to sh*t lately, so just having one more arm so that Pinto is not left out there to die might be useful.
August 18, 200817 yr I do miss a Miller but not justin i actually miss andrew but not as a starter but in the bullpen he should be a replacement for pinto as the lefty bullpen guy because pinto dosent deserve to be in the bullpen right now he deservers to be put in a pen full of bulls and he needs to got work on his stuff in triple a

But that's just me, I have no basis for that.

August 19, 200817 yr Yesterday didn't make me miss Miller, it made me miss the Pinto of the first three months.
