  1. He's supposed to be back in the lineup today. At this point it's 80-20 that he plays. If he does play, I don't expect much production. Hopefully though, he'll turn it on and show up big this series.
  2. Since the first game in Pittsburgh, Hanley hit .391/.462/.565. Someone please find me how he's not on track yet. I think it has less to do with his numbers themselves and more to do with how many players are playing better than he is. No player played better than him over that skid on our team. Not a single one. I'm not talking about just our respective team, but across the league entirely. He's supposed to be one of the best 1-3 best players in the game and he's 93rd on the player rater and dropping. Is he playing terrible? No, but he isn't playing to his skill level neither.

  4. I hope he gets back from the injury and on track quickly! Me to. Not only is he my favorite MLB player, but I took him first and my draft over Pujols. Right now that isn't looking like a wise decision.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/baseball/...page=ootb090428 The Nationals and Phillies combined to swat seven home runs Monday night, including two grand slams. Three American League hurlers went seven or more innings without allowing a run. Numerous closers got lit up and a National League rookie outfielder stole five bases! And still, none of this is potentially the biggest story in a crazy night of baseball. Fantasy monster Hanley Ramirez was hit in his right wrist by a John Maine fastball traveling near 95 mph in the first inning at Citi Field, sending someone in every league into a state of panic. The area between Ramirez's hand and wrist began to swell immediately, and after being examined by the Marlins' trainer the shortstop was removed from the game. X-rays were negative; Ramirez is listed as day-to-day. On a night of fantastic offensive and pitching performances, even the threat of Ramirez missing playing time rates as major fantasy news. Let's just say that is one very crucial right wrist to a lot of people. A few days off for Ramirez won't be a tragedy in fantasy, but any lingering problem to the wrist would obviously affect Ramirez's stats. As it is, he's off to a bit of a slow start for him; at the plate, with two home runs, 12 RBIs, three stolen bases, nine runs scored and a .289 batting average. It's dangerous to look at a player's pace before one month of the season is complete, but Ramirez has seen a decline in everything but RBIs. We expected more run production moving from the leadoff spot to No. 3 in the batting order, but not a general dropoff in natural power and speed. Remember, we're not evaluating Brendan Ryan here. This is the first pick in most every draft. Ramirez, 25, comes off his first 30/30 season, and has a career .307 batting average, so expectations are obviously sky-high. He has three stolen bases, but has also been caught stealing the same number of times. It's still early, but if you used the first pick on the guy, you expected he'd be among the leaders on ESPN's Player Rater. Currently Ramirez is No. 93, and not in the top five among shortstops (behind Jason Bartlett, Michael Young, Derek Jeter, Marco Scutaro and Asdrubal Cabrera). The last thing the slumping Marlins, and fantasy owners, need is an injury. With no apparent broken bones, Ramirez might miss a few games, and this potentially large story shouldn't be a big deal. Then again, we've seen what wrist injuries have done to power hitters in the recent past, notably the production of Hideki Matsui and Derrek Lee. Ramirez is much younger and more talented -- he was, after all, the first player taken in most drafts -- but any decrease in power is going to affect a whole lot of fantasy owners. As it is, Ramirez is someone who was being watched to start with, and an injury can't help.
  6. This is old news that he doesn't play hard. It's also old news, yet welcome news that the Marlins prevented the Mutts from making the playoffs each of the past 2 seasons, as is highlighted in that lovely sig of yours. ??? why you attacking me for? Hanley is the best hitting middle infielder in baseball but he doesn't play hard which is pretty obvious every time I watch him. If he played harder, he'd probably be the best player in baseball. Just cos you usually only appear on here at the first sight of trouble for the Marlins and you attempt to stir things up. He's right though, and it's getting fairly irritating. Hanley's good, and he knows he's good, and because of that he doesn't play hard... at all. He's been fairly underwhelming this season in pretty much every area of the game and I believe it deals more with him not trying then him actually being in a slump. He's one of the best in the game, and through almost 20 games, his numbers are fairly pedestrian. Maybe he wants to be traded, I don't know, but his effort, or lack there of is a really glaring issue. I know the Red Sox wanted him back, maybe that's his goal?
  7. He is still a beast, so I don't care. You should. We aren't getting max production out of one of the supposed best players in the game. Imagine if he played as hard as Albert Pujols does for the Cardinals day in and day out? We probably wouldn't have lost last night. Yeah, Hanley not hustling made Lindstrom lose control, who probably would have been out there anyway to get work in even if it wasn't a save situation.. We would've had more than 3 runs going into the 9th further demoralizing the Phillies.
  8. This is the main reason why he will be gone by 2012. Management doesn't appreciate lack of hustle, especially from their top paid player. So why did they sign him, then? Because he played hard then.
  9. 2 things need to get done!! 1- taking Lindstrom out of closer 2- taking Bonerface out of the lead of spot (17k/4BB) not a lead off hitter 2- Who do you suggest? Maybin is 18Ks/5BB, so I hope not him. I say throw Han Ram back into the one spot.

  11. Man, I can't wait until Hanley starts hitting the ball.
  12. Ok so he is fast, obviously has a great eye at the plate with somewhat of a lead off persons contact hitting skills. But what is going on with his patience, and what about that ugly swing? His back foot is not staying solidly on the ground as he kicks to swing the bat. He is 0-for? in his last 4 games, should we be worried at this point? Has anything been said by our coaches? Watch today's game video mlb.tv, and notice what a pointed out, his batting stance lacks the basic fundamentals for a hitter. While he is struggling, I don't think we should panic. He isn't the only player at the top of the lineup who's having a tough time hitting. They'll come around.
  13. It was only a matter of time before we dropped a few with the top of our lineup playing so poorly. Unless they step it up, we'll continue to struggle.
  14. His struggles really have nothing to do with his additional bulk. An extra 10 or 15 pounds of muscle mass isn't really going to slow anybody down much if at all. As of right now, I think it's all in his head. He hasn't gotten in rhythm, and he's trying to hard. Hopefully he'll snap out of this funk and show up. We need him if we hope to be a legit playoff contender.
  15. I remember somebody saying that if all our key players stayed healthy then we'd have a pretty reasonable chance to contend so I'm not really surprised at anything except the record. I mean come on we would have been happy with 8-4!! Now the key to the season is how is the manager gonna adjust to the up's and down's of a season because it is clear that the FO will do what it can to improve here and there. SO now what we gonna do when Emilio and Maybin struggle to hit leadoff? The best reason for hope is that Sanchez and Miller seem to at least be serviceable at the 4&5 spots where they can get some easy matchups. We looking good though and I'm all smiles I was thinking that if Emilio and Maybin continue to struggle that we may move Hanley back to leadoff seeing as how he's struggled in the 3 spot.
  16. I see many of the posters there claiming Hanley is one of the best in baseball, which he is, and I can't wait until he starts producing as such. Once he does, our team will be even more amazing than we already are. By "our team", do you mean the Marlins, or your fantasy team? :whistle (kidding) Lol, The Marlins. I've constructed a pretty solid fantasy team so even with Hanley and Boni struggling I'm leading my league by around 9 points. So I'm fine, but I really want to see Hanley succeed.

  18. 1. Our Record 2. How well our pitching has been 3. Hanley's poor start
  19. I'm officially worried. The man's in a slump.
  20. 4/24 with 2 RBI's and no HR's in his last 5? I think he's hit a small slump. Call me paranoid, but it's looking like that at the moment. Maybe the reason behind his struggles is the change in the batting order, I'm not sure, but I hope he picks it up soon. He's still at .289 and 3rd in the NL in RBI. He's doing fine in fantasy, and he'll improve that BA over time. His RBI numbers are due in large part to the opening day GS. Yesterday he was 39th on the player rater, he's sure to fall hard though along with Boni whom was number 2 yesterday.

  22. 1-3 in the marlins order - 0-12 Yeah, I don't think I was expecting that.
  23. Hanley hasn't looked too good today. This was probably his last at bat as well.
  24. Hanley isn't looking much better than Boni this series.
