Scouting Report:

Marlins: Making his first start of the season, Sanchez was solid against the Mets on Friday, pitching five scoreless innings against a team he hadn't faced since 2007. The 25-year-old, who gave up four hits and three walks while striking out five, pitched out of trouble in his last two innings of work. In the fourth, he started with runners on first and second but got three straight outs. Then, in the fifth, Sanchez struck out Carlos Delgado with two men on base to end the inning and preserve a two-run lead. In his previous three years in the big leagues, Sanchez is 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA in four starts against the Braves.

 

Braves: Kawakami pitched around some early jitters and won his first Major League start while recording eight strikeouts and limiting the Nationals to three runs in six innings on Saturday night. Armed with an average fastball, the 33-year-old right-hander relies heavily on a slow curveball that proved to be effective during his successful 13-year career in Japan's Central League.
