Marlins should offer pavano this:
our staff last year really never got going as a whole, that dosent mean we cant win with awsome pitching and the lineup we have
-

Today's News
we got ripped in that LA deal we should have gotten Mota, LoDuca, and Encarncacion for Penny and Murphy alone.
-
Some more money to use?
so thats why they are still saying that they try to sign pavano

Comment on ESPNEWS about Lowell and Glaus
They should have groomed Willingham as a 1b he be more useful to the team there

If you thought you knew the Yankees '05 payroll
Consider that New York Yankees gear is sold around the world, and probably pulls in hundreds of millions in revenue on its own. Factor in daily sellouts, etc. and they make boatloads of cash. 631271 That combined with everything thats was already said is why the yankees are the Evil Empire

MLB rigged the "This Year in Baseball" Awards?
Maybe the fans just don't like him? 630572 who would ever think that way? 630597 not bonds, he'll probably think this is White America hating on the black guy or something
-
Are we going after 6 starters?
how can they release Valdez if hes a free agent?
-
leiter's deal specifics
After thoroughly examining the payroll figures, i can not see the marlins signing pavano without making significant moves to dump payroll at other spots. 630424 A backloaded deal should allow them to offer him a good offer after this upcoming season: Hampton is off the books, and pudge is off after 06 i believe Conine is gone as is leiter, and I believe Encarnacion as well That should allow them to sign pavs
-
How much should we offer Pavano?
i think the 4/36 offer would get it done, but unless pavano accepts a backloaded contract it probably wont happen
-
Tino Martinez a fish?
I would like Travis Lee more than Tino because he is younger, and should be able to get him cheaper. But people on here seem to hate Travis. 630328 I think that is a good idea, too. But how much is Trav Lee asking for? And would he be ok with platooning with Conine? The other thing is he could play some RF, I believe. Solid idea... 630361 I much rather go after Rober Fick, good fielder with some pop in his bat

Alfonseca, Leiter agree to deals
thanks

Alfonseca, Leiter agree to deals
rferry where you get those stats?

Status of Lo Duca
hes in his arbi year the marlins get to retain his rights, but the marlins have said they will lock him up long term

Are we going after 6 starters?
Beinfest would probably trade Burnett before Beckett. 630228 I think he would trade Beckett instead,
-
Scratch Matt Mantei Off Your List...
Injured Reliver...0-3 11 ERA...Thank god its for only 750K 630148 That is an excellent signing. I wish it had been us...damn it. 630174 I agree, if mantei remains healthy that will be a huge steal
-
leiter's deal specifics
To be truthful, I don't feel Pavano will live up to the money he will be making. 630230 I agree, I see it as a very risky move to sign him pavs.. We may be better of signing Kevin Millwood to a one year deal for under 5 million. Which could turn out to be a bargain with pitching at PPS and behind our defense
-
White Sox Re-Sign Garcia
Yea, it looks like a better signing, still overpayed though
-
Braves decline arbitration to Drew
I would trade Encarnacion for just about anything, sign Drew, and have Cabrera play in LF. 630038 Cabs would play LF either way
-
Are we going after 6 starters?
They probably believe that they will end up with one, but not two, of those starters that we are going after. 630031 One would think so. But there is a real possibility we come to terms with Pavano and Valdez accepts our offer of arbitration. 630037 we can still trade players who are Arbii cases. 630040 we cant trade Ismael because he already has more than 6 yrs.

Are we going after 6 starters?
Beckett for Dunn, duh. :deadhorse 630035 right after i made my post i remember that rumor. That could be another optio Beinfest could consider, he could trade Beckett for Dunn, but I think that deal happens only if the reds take Encarnacion or a third team takes Encarnacion
-
Are we going after 6 starters?
Valdez should make less than 2 next year, and if he accepts a deal with the marlins under that scenario he would either: A) try to get dealt away or B) become the long reliever(what would probably happen)
-
Alfonseca, Leiter agree to deals
his whip was 1.60 thats pretty damn bad
