  1. We could give them Morrison and probably the three best prospects in our farm system and that probably still wouldn't be enough for Felix. We just do not have the prospects to make better offers than other teams.
  2. Ozuna hit 23 last year but I honestly don't know much about him to provide an analysis.

Theres no way he gets 20 million per year. Not even the Yankees are crazy enough to pay that for him. Daisuke's base salary when he came over was a tad over 6 million. Yu is better than him so it seems like you guys should be in the right ballpark with saying 12 million per year or so.
  4. We've learned that Loria is willing to overpay this offseason. If they want to get Fielder I think the only thing that could prevent it would be if he wants a NTC.

We find out who gets Darvish on the 14th at 5 p.m

Not that it means anything at all but his parents met while attending Eckerd College down here in Florida.

I don't know why he didn't directly tweet him. He probably won't see it since its just a hash tag.

Now Rosenthal just mentioned us and Darvish. They brought it up to Ken and he said he hadn't thought about it until then but Darvish cost "only money". This really makes sense because we're not good trading partners since our farm system is not very good anymore.

He offers the highest reward of all the pitchers left on the market. At the same time he also offers the highest risk. Darvish will probably sell huge amounts of Marlins merchandise in Japan. This is something Loria seemed interested with when it came to Pujols and his marketability.
  10. Kuroda would be nice but he seems to really love the west coast.

Peter Gammons just said on Hot Stove that he could see us putting in a bid for Yu.

I completely forgot about the Red Sox and Bobby V's ties to Japan. It can't hurt to throw a bid out there and if we win and cant agree on a deal no harm is done. We will get our money back.

It's a straight up blind bid. If a team really wants him they probably will place a much higher bid than he's worth and hope nobody matched it. It will probably come down to the Yankees and Rangers.

Goes to the team. The bid wont get that high

Everything I have read suggests it will take at least 30 million to win the bid.
  16. I think Oswalts price moved up to about 14 million or so per year considering the offers we made to CJ and Mark. That's Mark Buehrle money. Oswalt isn't getting that. He's not even the most intriguing arm remaining on the market, at this point. Who is more intriguing at this point? Darvish is going to wind up at about 100 million when it's all said and done. Teams who need a starter will probably be more willing to overpay a little for Oswalt who has shown what he can do over Darvish. Unless of course we're talking about the Yankees or Red Sox. Jackson is an intriguing option and will be cheaper than Roy but he's so up and down.

  18. I'm not sure I would move Lomo if we got Cespedes. Nobody has seen him play. For all we know he could turn out to be a huge bust.
  19. I don't get it. Why wouldn't they want to play here? With the amount of talent and money they were offering, it seems like the only thing holding them back was how the Marlins treated their players in the past. joecapMARLINSjoe capozzi CJ Wilson turned down $100 million from #Marlins to go home #Angels http://shar.es/oIGHD CJ is easy to understand. He wanted to play in his hometown. I respect him a lot for giving up all that money to go home.
  20. Nah, he has money. He wanted to make sure he did not get traded when he was 37-38 to Kansas City. Pretty sure his 10-5 rights would negate that possibility.. could be mistaken though. You are correct. Thats why I'm saying he probably would have taken his chances of being traded within five years if it meant 275 million dollars.
  21. Thats why I think they're false.
  22. I also think the "No no-trade clause" bit was the dealbreaker for Pujols. If we offered him the highest contract in MLB history I think he would probably get over it.
  23. If we offered Pujols 275 he would be here right now. No-trade clause or not.
  24. How would everyone feel about Beltran out in left if he came at a reasonable price?
  25. Zambrano is still on a huge major league deal. Not a free agent.
