March 30, 200422 yr According to an IQ test that is given out in the scouting combines. Miami players scored below average. The Wonderlic test is a 12 min test with 50 questions the average test score is 20. According to the president of the Wonderlic test "A score of 10 is literacy, thats about all we can say." The highest score this year was 45 by Iowa DT Jared Clauss. Miami Players Test Scores: Jonathon Vilma- 23 D.J. Williams-21 Vernon Carey- 18 Keavin Beard- 15 Jarret Payton- 12 Kellen Winslow Jr.- 11 Vince Wilfork-10 Carlos Joseph- 9 This explains all the stupid penalties. courtesy of ESPN Insider.
March 30, 200422 yr I think you mean d-1a. Because I can name plenty of d-1aa powerhouses (who are still d-1) that have excellent academic scores.

March 30, 200422 yr And this isn't the same for most any division 1 football powerhouse? Um, Iowa was a BSC team last year.
March 30, 200422 yr oh, and beinfest4prez, I would assume it's worse for scUM. Why? Well, I mean, it wouldn't be much of a story if it was everyone. They obviously singled out UM because of exceptionally bad scores. Oh wait, the media hates the Canes right?
March 30, 200422 yr I think Sean Taylor scored real low also. They all better hope that they dont get injured because without football they dont have anything. Atleast some other guys have an education to fall back on if they cant play football.

They obviously singled out UM because of exceptionally bad scores. Oh wait, the media hates the Canes right? :rolleyes I never denied they don't have high scores there. Look I had a better SAT score in seventh grade last year then most of their recruits. BTW: I'm suprised about Winslow because I thought I heard he was one of the brighter people in college football.
March 30, 200422 yr these fellas are probably so dumb that they'll end up wastin their money (ala Tyson to a lesser effect)
March 30, 200422 yr you just implied that it was different at other d-1a powerhouses. Well if it was as bad elsewhere, why did they single out Miami?
March 30, 200422 yr Author Matt Starks from Florida scored in the 30's. They didnt say the exact score for many of them. Some notables who scored in the 30's are: Phillip Rivers Eli Manning Craig Krenzel Matt Schaub Jake Grove Ben Harstock Others who scored highly were Delwares Shawn Johnson who scored a 42 and Georgia's Ben Watson who scored a 41. The lowest score was Roderick Green from Central Missouri State who scored a 3. lol In case no has figured out I am a UF Fan. :mischief

March 30, 200422 yr Author I couldnt post because of the new ESPN Insider block of copying and pasting. But somehow Ramp has magic powers as he does it all the time. :mischief2 So he probably can.
March 30, 200422 yr You know why they single out Miami? Probably because they have had so many first rounders lately and ESPN is pointing something out if their career goes Al Blades, may he rest in piece.

Probably because they have had so many first rounders lately and ESPN is pointing something out if their career goes Al Blades, may he rest in piece. Maybe they're just dumber. If I were a UM fan I wouldn't care about this nonsense, but instead of the National Championships and that stuff.

Isn't Jon Vilma supposed to be a smart guy? Wasn't he like All-Academic team or something?
March 31, 200422 yr jon is an economics major, and though he did earn a diploma legit, that doesnt mean youre a really really smart guy. how smart could he be? he went to carver middle (inside joke between me and miami15) sure miami football players are dumb, but what college football team is smart?
March 31, 200422 yr BTW: I'm suprised about Winslow because I thought I heard he was one of the brighter people in college football. dont talk about winslow being dumb! hes a f***ing soldier
March 31, 200422 yr Molecular Genetics Major, Craig Krenzel. Hobbies: Fiching and Golf (10 handicap) And he's an honor student to boost! Seriously, though, IQ tests are dumb, there's no way to accurately gauge intelligence based on a serioes of questions that could have bias towards gender, race, ethnicity or reading comprehension (what if the player's dyslexic, do they have more time to take the test?). Also, if you go to college, you'll realize how much that grade crap is blown out of proportion. I take classes with dumb people all day long. I'm not hating, because some of them do surpriusingly well until it comes to actually applying yourself.
March 31, 200422 yr Economics and Finance are up there with Family Management and Sociology (atleast for Duke) for dumb athletes. :thumbup Maybe UM will get better, and put an end to this bad reputation. The ACC has higher academic standards for football and all sports than the Big East and SEC.
