April 22, 200422 yr Awesome fight man. I got home at 12:10 since we had early release, and I saw the whole game. The Brawl was awesome, Lowell getting into it, Pavano as well (now Alyssa will probably give him some for looking tough). I agree the scariest thing was Oliver under the pile. BUT for those of you who did not see it, after the pitch to A-gon, he pointed to the pitcher, then Pratt got in Gonzo's face, pushed him then Gonzo smacked his glove out of his hand, then Pratt got in his face again, then they tried to swing but Ump was there. BTW, the worst thing is having to wait to see who is going to get suspended and for how long. I hope noone too important for too long.
April 22, 200422 yr Just to let everyone know, FSN shows replays of the game at 3:00 AM. It's only 2 hours so it's not guaranteed that it'll be shown but I think it would be because they want 3:00 AM ratings!

So they tried beating them up. Phillies catcher Todd Pratt and Marlins shortstop Alex Gonzalez were ejected from Thursday's game after starting a bench-clearing brawl in the second inning. After Mike Redmond homered off Brett Myers, the next pitch to Gonzalez was high and inside. Gonzalez took a step toward the mound and pointed at Myers. Pratt quickly stepped in and exchanged words with Gonzalez. Pratt then threw a right cross at Gonzalez after he swatted his hand at Pratt. Both benches cleared as Pratt, in a boxing stance, threw several punches. Mild-mannered Phillies third baseman David Bell was thrown hard to the ground by a Marlins player. Phillies manager Admin Bowa came out to talk with the umpires after Pratt was ejected. Myers hit Miguel Cabrera in the side with a fastball in the first inning. Marlins pitcher Darren Oliver didn't retaliate against Philadelphia's first hitter the next inning, Jim Thome. Thome, Pat Burrell and Bell hit consecutive singles on Oliver's first three pitches after the brawl. The Marlins were seeking their third straight three-game sweep over the Phillies, and second this season. Florida came in having won 17 of the last 19 games against the Phillies, who blew a slim wild-card lead over the Marlins down the stretch last season. April 22, 200422 yr Oh, man. Pat, I agree there are those on these boards that just love to tear this team down, but you gotta admit being handed our heads 6 times by this team is unacceptable. I complain because I think they are better than this! I posted this elsewhere but would like your reaction. After the game last night and Im sure today Bowa said something like this "we were beat heads up by a good team, thats why they are world champs, you gotta give them credit" What is he a cheerleader for Florida? Florida played terrible this series. There was a total 6 errors for both teams on Tuesday. Wed and today were also sloppy. Neither team looked like a WS contender to me. What do I want to hear Bowa say? The truth! "We got got our tails beat by an inferior team that we should have beat. We are better than this and should be asshamed of getting beat by this team" Mr. Bowa, some people have called for your head, what do you have to say? "I don't blame them if the team is going to play this badly" "I assure you there is a team meeting to be held and we will find out where the problems lie, if I have to sit the entire lineup I will but this won't continue" Am I fair on that? I do agree he did not lose these games but if a bench clearing brawl doesnt wake them up more than one inning than please tell me what alternative there are? April 22, 200422 yr Lowell was pushed into Bell and fell on top of him...Cabs looked like he was about to get in the fray...9ner held his ground. good stuff. Im not sure if A-Gon will even get suspended...he didnt throw any punches and Pratt actually started it with a push.

April 22, 200422 yr Dont know if its been asked yet but did anyone hear about players coming out of the locker rooms after the game confronting each other, by the way the fish got the better part of the mini brawl, pavano and lowell gettin some action. Although i think Lowell was trying to break it up.
