Some tried to spin the yarn that Oliver was here to eat innings. He isnt doing that. A starter going 4 innings or less constantly serves no use.

I'm sure no one expects this above 9 ERA and going few innings while giving up tons of runs. Stop all this "He's our 5th starter" crap. Pavano was our 5th starter last year and he wasn't bad was he? Just because he's our number 5 does not give him a reason for sucking so bad.

I'd rather have someone that gives us a chance to win without having to score 8 runs in the first 4 innings. And averaging 5 innings per start isn't exactly eating up innings, which I would be satisfied with. Hey, I was an Oliver supporter at the beginning of the season. But now I've seen the error of my ways. :whistle

May 3, 200422 yr Oliver is not pitching at the Major League level. An ERA of about 5 is acceptable but getting rocked every night isn't. He can't pitch in the Big Leagues.

May 3, 200422 yr No big names yet. All I see is sarcasm. Wayne and Tejera jump to mind (although I'd rather leave Wayne in the pen). If we want someone to simply go 4 - 5 ineffective innings there are a lot of guys at the AAA level waiting for the chance...
