May 3, 200422 yr You guys hated on Pavano early last year when he wasn't rolling, but now you all kiss his feet. Pavano had an 8 ERA after 5 starts? Pavano was a 10-year veteran? Where's the comparison here? Pavano still had upside, there were plenty who said "if he can just put it together."
May 3, 200422 yr how many do you want?????? hutchinson wayne phelps tejera howard do i need to go on? hutchinson Southern League ? Carolina Mudcats 4/8 to 4/29 W L SV ERA G IP H R ER BB KO HR 3 1 0 3.68 4 22 18 9 9 2 22 1 consider him for when rosters expand. not proven enough yet to be called up to big club. wayne is better in the pen, it is proven he can't start up here. phelps is an option, but he has not done well as of late. walks too many. tejerable? are you kidding? after all the hat you gave him last year? howard Pacific Coast League ? May 3, 200422 yr i frankly don't care about what happens to oliver once AJ come back, but right now he has to step up. he is our best option.
May 3, 200422 yr You guys hated on Pavano early last year when he wasn't rolling, but now you all kiss his feet. I hope you don't mean me because first of all, I wasn't even on this board last year until October. I had been going to the ESPN boards for 2 years. And I've liked him since he joined the team so stop talking s***.
May 3, 200422 yr too bad we can't go with a 4 man rotation, so that way y'all can stop b***hing already.

May 3, 200422 yr I'm keeping my Oliver avatar just to make people mad. i keep defending him to make people (Das) mad. lol it is enjoyable. he whines more than a sick child. lol
May 3, 200422 yr Oliver is garbage. 9 ERA doesn't cut it in the bigs. I rather see the team try out a number of starters from AAA and see who can stop the bleding on the 5th start.
May 3, 200422 yr Cape: You must stop being a homer and admit he sucks! Say it with me: Darren Oliver sucks!

May 3, 200422 yr I'm keeping my Oliver avatar just to make people mad. He had a good start and then you put his avatar up Coincidence?
May 3, 200422 yr If Oliver is so bad, then you "geniuses" out there give us the "failsafe" replacement until AJ returns. Put a tee at home plate for all I care. I'm sure the tee would have a lower era than oliver by at least 3 runs.
May 3, 200422 yr I'm keeping my Oliver avatar just to make people mad. He had a good start and then you put his avatar up Coincidence? Just figured I'd be the first. I knew he wasn't a great pitcher.

I have been consistent. He is a fifth starter. I expect him to keep us in games. We lost in extr, he did his job partially. You gonna blame Perisho for losing?

May 3, 200422 yr after five starts and 26 and a third innings of work, the guy has an ERA of 8.54. you cant use that "but he is a fifth starter" crap in his defense because no fifth starter should ever give up an earned run every inning. at some point you have to admit he hasn't been performing even at the level of a fifth starter thus far. his performance has pretty much been consistent every single start: start #1, gave up 3 runs (2 earned) in 7ip start #2, gave up 5 earned runs in 6ip start #3, gave up 5 earned runs in 5.1ip start #4, gave up 8 earned runs in 4ip start #5, gave up 6 runs (5 earned) in 4ip it's not like he got lit up in only one or two starts to mess up his ERA. hell, for his one good start in PPS, he gave up hits twice that were within a couple feet of getting over the out-of-town scoreboard. (he got lucky.) its almost like we can count on him to give up a run in every inning he pitches. he's no fifth starter.

He's not a long reliever, middle reliever, lefty specialist, set-up guy, closer.....he isn't anything.....so why don't we just release him....and admit it was an experiment that failed?
