May 9, 200422 yr Some Props ( on D ) Without him D.O. wouldnt have made it to the 5th and Fla would have never had a chance to win the game. So they lost, Its done. Alex deserves a :thumbup
May 9, 200422 yr I thought he won a gold glove b4... oh man if he hasn't the man definitely deserves one...
May 9, 200422 yr Why are we forgetting how much he SUCKED at the plate? You can say he saved runs and whatever, but he also had a chance to put us ahead and he f***ed up.
May 9, 200422 yr A-Gon is the man with the golden glove. He definately deserves one. He's always been great at defense, but sometimes he definately impresses me.

He ALWAYS sucks at the plate. We all know that. I, for one am already used to it. But nonetheless his defense is impressive, and the thread is about his defense. Dont poop on his parade. He doesnt get these often.

Hitting below .180, not coming through in the clutch, going for a Home Run and striking out every other AB is all great! I love it! Who cares that he's become an automatic out? If this was the A.L., I would understand. But because of A-Gon, Castro and the pitcher in the bottom of the line-up, we only have 6 hitters that can do something. And what about when someone is in a slump like Cabrera? Now we only got 5 good hitters.
May 9, 200422 yr Calm down. If it werent for his glove, he wouldnt be in the lineup in the first place. He saves runs for us left and right. If that doesnt count for something then Ill just leave this topic be. Dood, he definately has some talent on defense or else McKeon wouldve replaced him easily a long time ago with someone who hits better. Which is almost everyone in the team. I never said it didnt matter that he was an automatic out. I just meant, the topic KJC started was to give props to A-Gon for being a good defensive player, whens the last time you saw a topic giving A-Gon props?

Game 4 of the WS because that's the last time he actually did something good. No matter what, the Marlins are gonna get 27 outs every game. Alex Gonzalez won't make a great play every time. He does mess up too. We don't even know what Wilson Valdez can do. Call him up while A-Gon serves his suspension and have him start 1 or 2 games. See how it goes and then make a decision. A-Gon hitting .180 all year would be TERRIBLE and he would not stay here. Don't say anything about chemistry either because Valdez is Dominican so he and Louie would get along great.
May 9, 200422 yr I hear ya. But none the less, stick to the topic dood. If your going to post about him hitting .180, post it in a new thread and about how he needs to hit better. But I'll tell you this. It wouldnt be news to us. I came to the thread to give A-Gon his props for his defense. Im not the only one who came for that. I didnt come to the thread to see you talk crap about A-Gon.

May 9, 200422 yr As long as Ramon Castro is in the lineup, Alex will never be the worst hitter on the page. :thumbup :confused Seriously though, this is the player Alex is. He slumps horribly and then hits come in bunches...and then slumps again. He's the most streaky player in our lineup. He'll have another torrid week or two here soon. I'm not worried about Alex's bat because it was never expected to be a major part of the offense. I guarantee you Alex had a 30-game stretch last season that probably was worse than the one he just had, he's a streaky player, more bad than good, but enough good, in the end, to justify keeping him in the lineup thanks to his stellar glove.
May 9, 200422 yr Alex keep us in the game with his glove. I don't care what he did with his bat, the man deserves some props!
May 9, 200422 yr I think Alex should hit 7th. The pressure at the 8 spot always gets him. He can lay down a bunt or run a sacrifice play just as good as anyone on the team. He can hit, but it is sporadic. Ramon shouldn't play today, bring out the Little Red Machine.
May 9, 200422 yr The only thing Alex "deserves" is a one way ticket to Palookaville. He's a bum, hasn't hit in 10 months and Jack ought to sit his ass down for a couple of weeks until he's ready to make a meaningful contribution at the plate. If he can't or won't, trade him and his contract out of town.
