Featured Replies

That poll is freakin worthless! I just voted in the stupid thing and anyone could vote. Who's to tell those are really Broward residents?

  • Author

oh quit your bitchin play

you seem to do that alot

and oh yea, what happened to the Red Sox and Kevin Millar winning the WS over DLee and Co last year?

thanks

:)

Nope, not bitchin' ....just handing you the results of a poll...

THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO BELIEVE :D

LOOK, I am so glad D Lee is gone I can't wipe the smile off my face!!

I don't care what he does in Chicago...I enjoy Choi much more...he is much more entertaining and pleasent to watch in my opinion!!

Hey playattheplate,

I mean what are you and everyone else in Broward really b***hing about? Please explain because I don't understand why an extra 20 minutes of commute would prevent you from going to anymore games ever. Better yet explain how you can call yourself a baseball fan and say things like that. Stay home for all I care, in fact get yourself a new team cause I am just ashamed that we even have this team in common, you are no baseball fan.

Yep, Hollandsworthless really deserved that ring, much more than Millar..after all he did for the team being a marlin his whole career...

THAT NOBODY SEEMS TO BELIEVE :D

Because it's just a silly poll on a message forum! I voted in it too!

Lol..please don't question my loyalty to this team. Before I moved to Minnesota I had season tickets for 8 years and I have been to over 500 Marlins games in my life. I am out here in MN and I have probably gone to more games than you have in my 1 visit to Miami since the season started I went to 2 games in 3 days. The trip was to get engaged with my Fiance however we had to go to games because she knows how much I love baseball. I already got several roadtrips planned this year to go see them play.

YOU on the otherhand are talking about never going to a game again because they moved the stadium an extra 20 minutes from where it is now. PLEASE...

WHY don't you answer my question instead of turning this into a pissing contest about who's a bigger fan. I think everyone here already knows the type of fan you are.

It will be the Miami Marlins again alright!! And we know what happened to that team in that WONDERFUL? area of Miami... Bobby Muduro Stadium, formally Miami Stadium....Turned to sh*t...just like everything else down there!

It's unfortunate! But it happened! Used to be nice...I know this, because my mom, dad and I were ALL born and raised in Dade county! My mom, raised in Miami Proper, now it might be more familiar to you as LITTLE HAITI, near Jackson and Edison High, Winwood park in area where I wouldn't feel safe if I was driving down the street her house was on, carrying a firearm and driving a Hummer!

And dad, raised in Hialeah, where slowly when every house was painted purple or Flamingo Pink with bars on the windows and a statue...my grandparents finally couldn't find anyone anymore that would understand what they were saying, when going to the grocery store, etc. and finally felt ALIENATED and were the last to leave Hialeah for Volusia County/ Daytona Beach.

The Park does not need to go back down there...

Joe Robbie did real research to put his stadium where it would be best for ALL.

I just couldn't let it go. You showed your true colors with that statement.

You will never go to a game because you're scared of being in a neighborhood where the face you see next to you won't necessarily be white. I don't care if you tell me you were born and raised in Miami, so was I, but of course you look at my face and you see what Miami became, a more Hispanic city, and that appears to be something that really bothers you. I grew up in Hialeah, but I am one of those "people" that you apparently looked down upon based on your little prejudiced diatribe!

Apparently you haven't traveled down to Miami lately. The Orange Bowl area is part of a major redevelopment plan because it is tied into to the Miami River project. Of course, the amount of residential development in and around Downtown Miami (and even Little Haiti which you disparaged in your statement with your racist comment of feeling unsafe with a firearm in a Hummer). That area is now beeming with construction plans for $500,000 condos! But of course, you probably never leave your lilly white gated community in Pembroke Pines (which you'll probably leave soon anyway because, if you haven't noticed already is becoming more Latino by the day!) for fear that the non-white person next to you only wants to mug you.

I'm sick and tired of hearing Broward people automatically assuming that going to Miami is an unsafe and dangerous trip. Especially when crime statistics will show that per capita crime in Fort Lauderdale is just as high, if not higher in some categories than in Miami.

So, stay in Pembroke Pines, insulate yourself from the world, or better yet, get in your car (or probably pick up truck) and get on I-95 north and move to Palatka or Bartow or Sanford or Titusville where you'll feel better being next to those white people that automatically make you feel safer!

[

dude dont you know that H-Bomb could care less if the marlins dissapeared tomorw?

Yes I do!

He'll be laughing his head off when the new Bobby Moduro is constructed and nobody's there ...

Pittstburgh

Brewers

Reds

etc. Before that those teams sucked. Lets see all the stadiums built in the 90s to 00s:

SBC/Pac Bell- Giants, have done exteremely well and were successful before in Candlestick.

Great American- Reds were crappy before and now their even crappier after.

PNC- Pirates are mired in a 12 straight seasons of below .500 which started before there stadium.

Comerica- Tigers, see Pirates.

Miller- Breweers, see Tigers

Jacobs- Indians was a great team but bloated salaries ruined them.

Camden- Orioles, See Indians

Turner- Braves, See Giants

Safeco-Mariners, were a very good team before but age is hitting hard right now.

Minute Maid-Astros, see Giants

CBP- Phillies, too early to say

PETCO- Padres, see Phillies

Ballpark at Arlington- Rangers, was a very good team but ARod bit them in the ass.

US Cellular Field- White Sox, mediocre team

Bank One- Diamondbacks, see Mariners

And thats it I believe.

So you see a pattern here that crappy teams who built stadiums got crappier and good teams stayed good for the most part.

This argument is just ridiculous.

I live in Weston and the stadium is on my backyard. I'm there in 25 or 30 minutes tops, and traffic is never never a problem. The same can be said about Prembroke Pines, Miramar, Plantation, Davie, and most Urban Ft Lauderdale (South of Commercial Blvd and west to i95). Yet, the Stadium seats have been empty for many many years.

Bottom line,

- Broward county government doesn't give a rat ass about the Marlins

- Broward fans have not supported the Marlins at the extent that they could have

- A good amount of Broward and PB citizens act like Miami is a ghetto s*it hole (and don't tell me this is not true, I moved here in 1994 and I've heard the same stories about Miami over and over. When I first moved, I was even afraid in going to Miami due to all stories. To tell you the true, I feel very safe in Miami. It is a very diverse area, and I love it)

Going to a game is optional, if it is too hard for you, stay home!

Alright FreshFish! WOOO!!

I am still waiting on play to explain to me how I am "in denial".

I think the biggest problem is that people down there have their heads up their behinds. Shut up and watch the games already. I lived in Pembroke Pines for many years and right across the street from FIU on Coral Way for many years and the best site is the one chosen. It balances the travel times quite a bit.

If you can't travel another 15 minutes max, don't be a fan. Watch TV, because you don't deserve a team.

If half as many PBC and Broward residents that are complaining now had mailed their county selectmen then maybe they wouldn't have to worry about that extra 15-minute drive into the land full of those colored people.

Deal.

Correction! Nice try! You are the one that questioned my loyalty FIRST, by saying I wasn't a baseball fan, everyone check it out, it's right there.

This is what happens on this board every time...if you are a Marlins' Fan but you are objective and you don't agree with what everyone here says...that means you are not a Marlins Fan.

Yes I questioned your loyalty, only because you questioned mine first! I am not allowed to defend myself?! This is the same old thing on this board...I'm always stuck defending my fanatacism of the Marlins?!

If everyone agrees than that's called a club or something? not a public forum where people have the right to disagree.

There is no need to question anyone's fanatacism here, yet you people stoop to doing that all the time?

Why is there hostility, and no respect for people in Broward having an opinion.

It's juvenile!!

You can call me names, disagree, say your crazy...but no one should ever question anyone's fanatacism...and I will, only in defense of myself...you question me I QUESTION YOU!

Look my piont is fairness, if it were moved much north of Pro Player, wouldn't that be tougher for people in Miami to go? I can admit it! And I would feel bad...that's why I think it should be right there in the location it is! Fair for everybody! Does that make me nuts?

Samson has decided to cater to one group of people over another. And I think that's unfair

So you are saying, North Miami, 10th ave and 154th which is where I lived, and was nice many years ago so was 163rd street mall, didn't turn to sh*t

Well it did!! Drive by shootings in the back of me...Get REAL!! Why the hell do you think Broward's population boomed !! Our neighborhoods turned to sh*t man! And you know it! You don't think I was scared about having to go to JFK junior high!! You GD bet I was!

Is there something wrong with feeling bad that no one speaks your language? Wouldn't you feel a little alienated!!

You are turning all around! But it doesn't work on me...

You think I'm bitter about having to move out of my neighborhood, and all the places around there that used to be nice! You damn well better believe I'm bitter!

Because we had to get out! Just like a lot of people! And out to the f**nkin' swamp of western Broward !! Just like all the other knuckleheads had to do! There's no one left down there that I went to school with, NO ONE!! EVERYONE WENT NORTH!

Get real! Do some homework!

Has nothing to do with color!!! It has to do with Danger and Crime! And houses and business' looking like SH*T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's why people

MOVE OUT!! :banghead

Fair? We're talking about the longterm future of the club not catering to a bunch of old Yankee fans.

We had our own white scare out here in DC a few decades ago (as did all metropolitan areas) yet I've never heard the anything near the level of hostility Broward and PBC folk have Miami from residents in the suburbs of DC, NYC and Philly.

You are a racist if you are scared of a bad neighborhood...

that's a funny one!

Didn't you ever take Sociology?

It's not your fault you're scared! And it's perfectly normal to be scared! Yes the house my mom grew up in is soooo beautiful now! Oh it's gorgous! Just as nice as it was down there in the '50s! I think everyone's moving back there!

You ought to see it...I mean I hope we hear from you again, after your trip... but it's quite nice...I think Mike Redmond lives there! Little Haiti!!

Or is it western Broward? :mischief2

That poll is freakin worthless! I just voted in the stupid thing and anyone could vote. Who's to tell those are really Broward residents?

Where is all that FIU education?

Why would anyone in Dade vote in that poll? And if they were ignorant and did, why would they vote and say "I would go to fewer games"

please! Max!

makes no sense...

A good amount of Broward and PB citizens act like Miami is a ghetto s*it hole

As an Orange County resident, I agree with this statement... You compare Miami to O-Town and all you see is a ghetto s*it hole...
