Happy Anniversary Sammy Sosa!!

Featured Replies

That's right, today is the 1 year anniversary of the day Sammy Sosa was exposed as the liar and cheater that he really is, as he was caught with a corked bat after a broken bat RBI groundout in the 1st inning of a Cubs game at Wrigley against Tampa Bay.

Actually, maybe I'm wrong here, after all, Sammy says he "accidentally picked up the bat he uses in batting practice to make the fans happy." It's just amazing, all those bats in the bat rack and he accidentally picks up the corked one he uses in batting practice to entertain fans, and then doesn't realize that this is the bat with cork in it. Just incredible stuff.

The White Sox are having a really good year...is this all you have to celebrate? :confused

Celebrate?? I'm not celebrating, just reminding people that Sammy is a scam and a fraud.

If this happened to ANYBODY other than Sammy Sosa, every news outlet in the country would be talking about this as the 1 year anniversary. But since it happened to oh great Sammy, everybody has forgotten about it.

Maybe you can go one step further than that Pepsi commercial and put poison in his food.

Yeah right, I want him dead.

So everybody is going to attack me for bringing up the fact that Sammy Sosa is a cheating fraud??

Sheesh....

A cheating fraud? Or one mistake....Take off your Sox glasses and be more realistic about the situation....

Yeah, he's not a cheater, he just corked his bat because he was in a massive slump.

Why does everybody rush to defend Sammy? I don't get it, this has nothing to do with Sox glasses. The man was caught cheating, and everybody just loves to rip people for pointing it out.

And anybody who believes his story is just an idiot in that regard, i'm sorry. And if that means i'm calling 95% of people idiots, I don't really care because that's the case then.

I mean come on, he uses a corked bat to hit a ball that normally goes 500 feet 505 feet instead in batting practice, then actually uses it in a game on accident, grabbing that bat among a rack of a few dozen???

Come on, open your eyes.

Oh, and for those of you like RippyO who will talk about how they checked all his other bats and found nothing....do you actually think he would be dumb enough to cork all his bats??

Of course he only had 1 corked bat around, you only use 1 bat at a time, plus he had to have known that if he ever got caught with it, all the other bats being clean would help his BS story.

look.

sosa cheated.

an accident or on purpose....he still cheated and brought the potential for tarnishing the game.

because he is sammy sosa he gets away with it in some ways.

albert belle did the same thing...but you dont hear the public outcry for him.

cheating is cheating.

just like if barry bonds has been on steroids its ruins the integrity of the game and is a black eye on the sport.

I would also like to point out that I started this thread almost as a joke, because I'm not saying ban Sosa from the game for life for this, it's not like he was caught on steroids. Also, I just wanted to point out it was 1 year ago today this happened, and that it's amazing to me that Sosa got away with this pretty much, I mean, NOBODY talks about it.

So if you want to rip on me for being a White Sox fan go right ahead, but I would hope we can all agree that he got caught cheating, and that it makes no sense why a guy with over 500 home runs would be corking his bat.

Oh, and by the way, I'd respect the guy a lot more if he just admitted he made a mistake and that he won't cork his bat again rather than hide behind some BS story.

It must suck to be a White Sox fan.

not as much as being a Cubs fan

you're both pathetic....shame on you for insulting and attempting to tarnish the image of one of the best players in MLB. Sosa is a very humble and charismatic guy, and he's done a lot for the people in the DR. Instead of talking s*** about a good guy that made an error, how about we talk about all the others who insult baseball with their behavior?

i.e. Mondesi, steroid users (Bonds, Giambi)...

In Babe Ruth's time, it was legal to cork your bat so I don't beleive Sammy Sosa tarnished the game.

:hat :hat :jackass

babe ruth also played half his career in probably the biggeset dead ball era ever.

pitchers could also throw spitballs also.

Sammy cheated and lied about it, and the whole world forgot about it. Its pretty amazing it's only been a year and we never hear about it any more.

sounds like a pissed off White Sox fan .... no need to read the whole thing

That should become the title of this thread....

My goodness, give Maggs a break. He is pointing out the Anniversary of one of the most shocking moments in sport's history, which is basically unremembered.

sosa is a fraud. at least when i look at bonds, mondesi, etc. i know theyre true and not putting on acts

sammy = fraud, liar

Shocking moments in sports history? Give me a friggin break! :mad :

Shocking moments in sports history? Give me a friggin break! :mad : This was a huge shock. Not too many people expected this and as the view on Sammy has lessened, don't forgot how shocking this was a year ago. This was simply a day that no one thought they'd see. I mean if he threw a ball at the umpire or choked Dusty Baker, that'd be one thing, but no one corks their bat these days.
