Big-hitting prospect gets a new view

What moving Dillon to LF does is make Conine realize that if he doesnt start producing that someone is going to take his spot.

I don't think you have to call up a guy from AAA to make a guy like Conine realized that he needs to start producing. I think he's well aware of it. Yea of course he is well aware but there is a better affect when they actually move him up.

If Dillon does not work out I'm going to throw out two names that haven't been mentioned yet...Matt Lawton(pretty big contract though) and a realistic option I think Danny Bautista. Plays anywhere in the OF, decent speed, can hit fairly well free agent at end of season and only 4 mil contract which almost half has already been paid

Matt Lawton's due 7 million next year so you can count him out.

Danny Bautista would be great, provided he can stay healthy.

What would the D'Backs want for him in a trade?

Let's try not to turn yet another topic about trade talks. There's already about 200 of those. This is about Dillon.

I like the idea. If it doesn't work, trade for someone.

Might as well give him a spot on the bench.....but who does he replace? Mordy? Nunez?

I wouldn't expect much.....this is the PCL, one of the most hitter-friendly leagues in baseball. He's not gonna be a savior by any means. It's gonna take more than calling up a 28 year old journeyman minor leaguer to get us going again.

ill go with geemoney on this one

he doesnt seem like much

at 28 years old he cant be anything special for all we know he could be another Kevin Millar

It doesn't hurt to see what he can do.

All we know is Dillon has been on fire this year. I look for good production from him in the bigs. Also, as for PCL inflation, Dillion put up big numbers at Carolina as well.

The thing is...

Look at Sutton and Nunez, two guys who made the team based on their performance PLAYING EVERYDAY.

When cast them in a different light, when you make bench players out of them it obviously hurts their performance (and their worth to the club).

Dillion is not about to come up and be our everyday starting left fielder, at best he's going to platoon with Conine. Not to mention he barely knows the position and now has to learn the leftfield wall and the Teal Monster as a backup.

It's an awful lot to ask of a career minorleaguer (although I'd loved to see it all work out). Miguel Cabrera's come along only so often. Maybe he'll come up and be the spark we need but if he isn't, no one should be surprised.

Playing in the majors is a lot to ask of anybody. I think a "career minor leaguer" like Dillion is better prepared to handle it than anyone.
