Hunting

Featured Replies

who here hunts?

Lookin forward to hunting season!!

I'm gonna try makin North Carolina opening day....I gotta see if I can work it around football and class

I used to hunt. Not anymore. I used to primarily just hunt for hogs and turkey. Fun times with the pops, good male bonding.

the only hunting i would wanna do would concern me with a sniper rifle in a populated area, with animals NOT being the target.

nothing...absolutely nothing....we do it because it's not cool and there's no fun whatsoever :plain

I wouldnt mind hunting under some circumstances...I just hated hunters when I lived back in Italy because they would come up under our house (in the country) to shoot at the f***in smallest birds....italian hunters are losers!

EDIT: except for when they hunted wild boar and killed a few dozen. Gave us one ... good eatin for a while!

nothing...absolutely nothing....we do it because it's not cool and there's no fun whatsoever :plain

My post was just making fun of all those losers that always say "OMG IT'S WRONG!"

I find nothing wrong with it unless it's harmless animals like deers or birds. Go ahead and kill all the bears you want but please, leave Bambi alone.

But I bet Bambi sure tastes GOOD. IMO as long as you can eat what you shoot (and its not endangered) its ok.

kill bambi?

Hunting legallys (well hunting period) has never caused a species to become endangered or extinct in North America. It has been because of loss of habitat....80% of pheasant population dies off every year, regardless of if they're being hunted in that area or not...

killing a defenseless animal like deer...I don't see anything wrong with it, unless you are being cruel and inhumane (like shooting it, and not making an effort to find it, or shooting it somewhere besides the neck/head out of spite). Also, shooting birds when in their roost, or on a powerline is not right either. Or on the ground.

There is a sport to hunting. Anyone can take a gun and find an animal and kill it. But hunting itself is a sport....and when done ethically, it's a beautiful thing.

2 more things...

1) Cows are defenseless as well....I have no problems eating a steak or hamburger.

2) Hunters do more for protecting wildlife than any other organizations or individuals (except for the federal government obviously)...organizations like Ducks Unlimited consistently buy land for conservation.

I was listening to the radio on the way home from work yesterday and there was an advertisement for a hugh hunting sale and clinic from some sharp shooter. I was wondering if Beckett was going to call in sick so he could go and kill something.

Killing stuff you won't eat is stupid. I'm not for all that big game hunting where all you do is stuff the animal as a trophy. I want to eat what I've shot to give it some meaning.

but nothing is in season right now (well hog is in season year round on private property). Doesn't he have like 500 acres in Texas for deer hunting....I'm jealous.

I don't hunt, mainly because no one in my family does and usually that's how hunters get their start. :cool

agreed DW22....and it tastes better if you got it yourself, as opposed to buyin it.

Hunting is pathetic and there is absolutely no excuse for it, especially in this day and age. It is not a sport and to consider it one is nothing short of absurd. Did the fact that Jeffrey Dahmer ate his victims justify the crimes he committed? What is done with a corpse after its murder does not in the slightest bit lessen the victim?s suffering. Just the fact that you called it a "beautiful" thing is sickening. Yes, taking a gun and shooting an animal is very "beautiful" :thumbdown . You say hunting has never caused a species to become endangered or extinct in North America? That is a blatant lie. I'm all for the second amendment, my father owns multiple firearms and we go shooting on a weekly basis at a range in Palm Beach, however it is wrong to kill an animal for recreation or "sport," period. I will be able to refute any statement that you make in favor of hunting and I hope that we can have a mature and healthy debate here, unlike the other debates on this forum which began fine and eventually turned into flame wars.

Could a moderator please move this thread out of the "Other Sports" forum and into the Off Topic forum seeing as though hunting is not a sport? Thanks.

Prove me wrong...

buffalo could be credited to hunters..IF you consider people killing buffalo for the sake of railroads as hunting.....as for the mammoth...kinda weak argument b/c it's speculation...but I'll let you have it for the hell of it.

lack of deer in areas, duck, quail, pheasant, aligators, turkey...all that is attributed to loss of habitat and NOT hunting.

  • Author

sorry for the triple post, but I would like to make an edit....no animal in North America has become endangered or extinct due to LEGALIZED hunting....it's just not right to kill out of season, or go over the limit, etc. The laws are set up to protect wildlife.

agreed DW22....and it tastes better if you got it yourself, as opposed to buyin it.
