We gave up a lot to gain Shaq.

i know shaq is one of the greatest ever and getting him was huge, but a 5 year player retiring is way bigger

I'd probably have to say Ricky b/c this is a football town more than anything and it came out of absolutely nowhere. The whole Shaq thing went on for a week or two but this was an overnight shock.

rickey leaving. that came out of nowhere and he was in his prime while we had sometime to prepare for shaq's arrival and if we hadnt aqquired him we probably wouldve had at least another decent season. rickey leaving leaves a HUGE hole on that team.

 

 

i spent 5-6 hours playing ncaa football 2005 last night and finished at about 1 and turn on espn and i see rickey's picture as im going to the kitchen and i hear them say jim brown and robert smith. i got real nervous already thinking the worst and then i read it here. it felt like someone hit me from behind with a bat.

which was more shocking? the Ricky thing, only because the Shaq thing had time to develop, which is bigger? Shaq comming to Miami. you realise that every Miami Heat game will be sold out next year? who would've thought that would EVER happen?

So if Williams were to come back. All of those talking crap about him will kiss his ass?

Ricky leaving because it's Dolphins everything here. When the guy who probably would be the best running back in franchise history hangs it up, it's a big deal. Shaq's amazing, but he's not going into the hall as a Heat, Ricky probably would have gotten in...and as a Dolphin.

Well Ricky leaving i think is the biggest news. But on a side note, I heard that if the Dolphins FO calls Ricky and trys to get a new contract (more $$) he could be back. This reitirment is all because of $$ issue. His been calling the FO since the end of the season to get a new extention in place but the FO didnt want to do it. But i think he'll be back if not this year next year.

Ricky is pulling a Barry Sanders. He saw that the team around him was crap and basically gave the FO an ultimatum: let me out of my contract, or I retire (Corey Dillon almost pulled the same thing a couple of years ago, before his injury last season and the emergence of RUUUUUDDDIIIII!!!!! made him irrelevant). Who doesn't think Ricky basically thought and said the same thing?
