August 1, 200422 yr Left field is not nearly as expansive as right field at home; He's got a solid arm (probably attributable to his 3d-base history); His training has him on the left side of the field. He'll be fine; I welcome him coming to left.
August 1, 200422 yr Cabrera has a cannon for an arm that would be wasted at 1B. Conine has veteran experience playing 1st....so it is a better fit for both players to put Cabrera in LF and Conine at 1B. Encarnacion will be a huge upgrade defensively in RF. Our team defense is improved remarkably with LoDuca at C, Conine at 1B and Encarnacion in RF.
August 1, 200422 yr From the PB Post this morning: It was Cabrera's seventh error in 100 starts in right field this season. He will start in left field today.
August 1, 200422 yr I agree. Kind of like a Baseball "Peter Principle:" if a guy does well in a position, move him up to another position so he can fail. God Bless Cabs. He's gifted. But, watching him all season in RF, he looks like a fat ass and I can't imagine him anywhere in the infield. (Came up as a SS, did well at 3B in the Minors, brought up when Mike was injured, switched to OF when Mike came back...) The kid has been a trooper. A gamer. Willing to play anywhere as long as he can play. At this point I'd rather see him as DH. If that's not a viable alternative, then LF. 488280 I agree with everything except the fact you said he was a fat ass the guy is built like freakin tank
August 1, 200422 yr I'm starting to question the baseball knowledge level here 488471 You just started to now? The best was Lo Duca to LF....
August 1, 200422 yr um.... doesnt cabrera have a higher fielding percentage at 3b than anywhere in the majors. i recall him doing 'ok' there. so to say he is best only as a DH is simply stupid. yes cabrera sucked in right. he did ok in left though. and did excellent at third.
August 1, 200422 yr I'm starting to question the baseball knowledge level here 488471 yeah who started this thread? :whistle
August 1, 200422 yr 1. most RF are left handed 488282 That's not true at all. Some of the best right fielders in the game are right handed: Magglio Ordonez, Vladimir Guerrero, Gary Sheffield, Sammy Sosa, J.D. Drew, the list goes on. It does not matter if you're a lefty or righty, in almost every single case that player with the strongest and most accurate arm will ALWAYS play RF regardless of whether they're left or right handed unless their speed and/or general defensive ability severely handicaps them in which they'll play LF instead.
